Default Greets from Seattle

Figured since I've been lurking for a while, I might as well introduce myself. I'm Jeff (obviously), I own a yellow '92 miata with 120k on the clock. I picked it up for 3k from a mazda tech I know, which in retrospect seems pricy, but it came with a hard top and runs great, so no complaints. Current plans include:

Semi-DIY kit:
Begi manifold/DP/FMU
Garrett .42/.48 T3
Ebay 28x7x2.5 FMIC
HKS SSQV

^ all of this is already on the way

I'm hoping to augment the base setup in the future with:
A new clutch(probably sooner than later)
Megasquirt PnP / RC 550s
Corksport exhaust
New rims/tires
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just for the record, I'm not entirely noobish, I have a lot of experience with DSMs doing everything from engine rebuilds to cursing their very existance, and I also have some (very painful) experience with turbocharging non-turbo RX7s. This seems like a great site, and I'm looking forward to contributing

Welcome to the forum. Put your car year, motor, and mods in your signature. Even if it's stock, as least we will know what you have when you ask questions.

Pics of car or ban.

****... 1.6 FTW! Don't underestimate that motor. If it's healthy, it will take boost just fine. If it were shot, and you had to pull it, then I'd switch to a 1.8.

Damn you got a great deal on that car. Where exactly do you live in the area?

I live on 143rd st NE in seattle, about 1/2 mile in from I-5. The car runs like a dream, but there was slight damage on the passenger side where some drunk girl backed into it. A 6" dent right behind the door, but he wouldn't budge on the price, so I decided perfect running car > perfect looking car ( but I'm still irked he wouldn't budge). Also, it was at 119.7k when I bought it, and the guy who owned it ( even though he was a mazda tech ) left me the timing belt to do. I dont mind that too much though, because compared to changing the t-belt on a 4g63, this car looks like it will be a piece of cake.

Good to see another NW guy. 3k with the HT doesn't seem bad at all. Can you get to the dent from inside the trunk? If so you can likely massage it out pretty well. The fenders are pretty darn thin and flexible on our cars.

Hope the track bug hits you. Turbo Miata's are a whole lot of fun for HPDE. Of course you'll start upgrading brakes, wheels, tires, suspension, etc. Pretty soon that 3k car will be 10K!

I'd like that, but the wife might kill me. I ordered all of my turbo parts over the past few days, she saw the bank account and her eye started twitching.

I'm in a similar boat - except I haven't even made the car purchase! LOL Just getting as much information as possible, and maybe one day have some extra money to buy a "toy car".
