Default Hello, all...

Non-native Texan here...

Got bit by the Miata bug WAAAAY back in 1991 when I passed by a car dealership in Maine and saw the 1991 BRG special edition. Sadly, at that time I was newly married, newly unemployed and couldn't do a damned thing about it!

Fast Forward to 2004... My wife and I have acquired enough adultness and bank-balancedness that I get to buy a '99 Miata... Green/Tan... Yup ... Still have that green thing going on. I always wanted to do forced induction on it, but didn't have the spare cash as I went through a career change. Oh and kids. And minivan. Ugh.

Life occurs, and now my daily driver is a Ford F-150. BUT... I have letters in front of and after my name... (and LOTS of college loans!). That means that I get to buy .... you guessed it... ANOTHER MIATA!

A couple weeks ago I picked up an '01 SE.. Its in need of a little TLC, but the goal is to boost it as I move forward..

Just found this forum tonite, but I've been on Miata.net for years off and on...

Anyway -- Hi!

Hi M. Glad your here. First things first, this isn't miata.net and the people here are a bunch of young know-it-all punks with an addiction to cats. They will haze you so don't get too offended by it. It happened to me too.

With that out of the way, I would suggest taking a moment to decide if you want to spend $6000 on your miata, not including maintenance. That's how much it costs to boost one the right way to about 240 WHP reliably. Look at all the sticky's on all the different parts of the forum and just keep reading and keeping your head down for a while. I did that for about a year until I even made an account here.

Anyway, good luck and welcome!

You found the right place. Welcome.

Listen well to Lars (Shuiend) and know what you want, so you will have a proper idea what will be involved in FI. Cooling, ducting, heat shielding can be overlooked, but will be needed to be adequate for the power level you go with; and your use (daily vs track).

Have fun (you will)!

Welcome!

Photos?

Cats?

What kind of boost plan do you want to fulfill? Mild, Wild, or Wild+?

Lot's has been developed in just the past 4 years. It should be pretty easy to pick up and plan with the content on the worlds best forum.
