Default Hello from Az

been here multiple times for help and decided to finally make an account. I’d like to introduce my self, my name is Cameron I drive a 1996 Miata. I used to have a 92 240 and decided it was time for something reliable but still fun so I purchased my miata bone stock with 80k this past year. My goals are to autox and turbo it, the car has some basic mods as of now which include 15x9 wheels wrapped in 225/45 Hankook rs4, D2 coilovers, poly bushing set, Fab9 COP kit, extended lower ball joints and waiting for my frame rail braces and pac0 strong arms to come. I’m here mostly because I would love to turbo my car but is my daily 5 out of 7 days a week. I plan to do a fm kit with a voodoo box (I know I know get a ms.... emissions to heavy here). Really would appreciate any guidance throughout. I’d love for anyone that has used parts from fm that they would consider selling. Thank you everyone!

Welcome!

If you're not already on there, there's a Phoenix Miata Parts group on FB.

There's plenty of track and autoX opportunities in AZ. Hope to see you out there!

AJ resident here. Not sure why you think the voodoo will be any easier to pass emissions with than an MS? Actually would think MS would be easier because you can make a shitty, lean where necessary, super low boost, "pass emissions" tune with an MS where I don't think the voodoo is that flexible. Admittedly I don't know much about the voodoo. If it wasn't a daily you could get classic car status and forgoe emissions all together like I have. 5 year tags FTW.

What part of AZ? (nm I see your in surprise)

edit- will you ever even be able to get into boost on the streets of surprise? lol

Sean it's a 96. Has to pass OBD2 emissions test. Won't even go on the rollers.

AutoX here is meh. Take money for turbo stuff and go do some track days instead.

Oh I had a dumb. Well voodoo may certainly be easier in that case, but id still parallel an MS before using a poopoo box. Of course I'm talking out my *** because ive never actually done it.

Thanks for all the insight, i do love megasquirt as I ran it on my s13 and I am just now starting to walk away from voodoo the more and more I read. What has sparked my interest is the FM221 hope I can find some threads here on it, thanks!

That leaves me between the hydra and ms then huh. I run the ms like I said in my 240, ran it in my miata for awhile (pnp2) but could never get it tuned properly. Feel like hydra or mspabs pnp-pro is gonna be what it comes down to.

Hydra is expensive and ancient. MS3 is the answer for smooth operation. Don't make life difficult by going any other way.

Just in the last month or 2 Ive seen a lot more police presence on the 303. Maybe theyll make it a "safety corridor"
