Default Hello. NOOB from VA. I'm here to learn.

Hello everyone. My name is Eric. I’m 38, married, and have a daughter. I purchased my 1st Miata roughly two months ago. It is a 1996, 5spd, cold side S/C, running 7.5psi, it put down 161hp at the wheels. It has all the typical upgrades you see. Roll Bar, suspension, exhaust, wheels, etc. The car is very well sorted out and reliable, my plan is to mess around and make it better.

As I said this is my 1st Miata and I’m in love, this is the absolutely most fun driving a car I’ve ever had. It’s starting to get colder here in VA and I still drive with the top down to work every day and plan to do so until they threaten to salt the roads.
My goal is to make 200hp at the wheels and REALLY learn to drive the car. I hope to try autocross and maybe a track day next year.

I’m here to learn and gather as much information as I can.
Here is a crappy cell phone picture of my car the way it sits now.

Pretty sure we have a few members sort of out your way. Welcome to the forum. When you are ready I hand deliver turbo setup's to that part of the US.

Thanks! I have a few other aero and aesthetic mods planned as well as a line on some very slightly used BC coil overs which will help. It seems like there are quite a few people from NOVA in here. If you ever make a mountain run let me know.

Thanks for the info.
I've thought of pulling the S/C and going turbo just because there is way more information out there regarding forced induction via turbo, hardly anything the cold side S/C way.

Welcome to The Forum.

The reason there is very little coldside supercharger information is because it is one of the least efficient ways to add power to a Miata. You have all of the inefficiency of a roots-type supercharger and no way to remove the heat. But they are simple to understand.

Shuiend's MK Turbo kits are the best budget bang for the buck right now and could get you a dead reliable 230 wheel horsepower everyday without a sweat.
