Default Hello from Wilsonville, Oregon

My name is Dennis and I drive a nearly stock 1991 red NA. I dreamed of owning a Miata for nearly 28 years, and now that all the kids drive their own cars I can get one for me :-) My dream car arrived with black painted daisies, super low eBay special lowering springs, and smashed frame rails. Also a recent decent paint job and some nice upholstery upgrades (the sparkle purple NRG steering wheel and shift **** went away quickly). I decided to take it back to stock to see what a real Miata was like before tweaking anything. She now rides on OEM springs and shocks and NB 15x6 wheels wrapped in 195/50-15 Yokohama Advan Fleva V701 tires. Underneath are front and rear tubular subframe braces and FM v2 frame rails. An FM front shock mount brace and no name 4 point roll bar ride up top. This car is my daily driver (when ever we get back to commuting to work) and my weekend twisty road play toy. I hang out with a bunch of Miata folks that are chronologically advanced but young at heart. We love to drive safe and hard.

Which brings me to why I'm here. I can hang with the gang in the tight twisties but when the road calls for midrange punch or warp speed I get dropped. I am looking to educate myself on how to build some more power without ruining my daily driver. I'm still in fact finding mode, but my ultimate goal would be something between where I am stock and an FM Stage 1 kit but for less money. I am the mechanic in the family and do most of my own wrenching on the fleet of six vehicles we drive. Looking forward to the education and the build/drive fun.
