well it's hard to find ones that aren't dicks just because one doesn't know as much. But you're proving to not fall into the category <3

welcome! I would just drop in 6 speeds if you going to do a manual transmission conversion since you looking to turbo your miata later

This thread right here is a proof that guys who drive miata's aren't gay as hell. It's like the fastest growing meet & greet post I've ever seen

On something a little bit more constructive, I noticed your signature says Greddy kit. I would really consider getting something other then the greddy kit. I used to work at a car performance shop and sold a friend of mine a new Greddy kit for his 92 miata. It's been 2 years now and the thing runs great, but he's put over $4000 in upgrades to get it making decent power. No matter what your gender, boost & power is addicting, and once you've tasted 4.5psi, you're really going to want 12psi. I would really suggest getting a kit like the voodoo 1 from flyin miata. Sure it's $3000, but it's such a better starting point.

Good thing I erased what I'd originally typed out...decided short and simple was probably best.

EDIT: And what the hell??? You don't throw 'bows in a footrace...

hispanic yes, yall are to funny. I'm constantly bored at work and all you guys keep me laughing.

& about the voodoo kit, i've looked at them and the price scares me a bit. sometimes i wonder if turbo'ing a automatic is worth it? I get so many opinions about it..

If you have not already check out Begi and see the setups they offer. They are another alternative. Also I believe Pen2_the_penguin car is auto and it is running some boost. He should be able to answer any questions you have about using an AUTO.

Do the 5 spd swap first, then EMS like megasquirt, and then Turbo. And make sure you go with the 1.8 drive train for some boosted fun.

As for the turbo part, It seems like a DIY setup would be in your budget. I've got an oem 1.6 turbo manifold(too bad I have a 1.8) that could really start off a project like yours. Or break it down like this:

ebay turbo(w/ internal wastegate)
turbo manifold(custom)
downpipe
cat back exhaust

Ebay intercooler
pipes, couplers, clamps
bov

EMS
Wideband o2
injectors

I've already put together my own list of parts to turbo my miata and my total price is going to be around $1500 for a solid 200-250hp goal.
