i had planned to build a turbo bp escort and then realized if i get the amount of power i want it'll never move more then once per transmission since i want to do a bp powered car. Ive decided to go with a miata. I am looking for one as i type this. year will be either a 94 or 95. I live in northern VA. I am straight!

Oh yeah Ive built many v8 cars for other people and 1 for myself. I am familiar with machining processes and what it takes to put down large amounts of torque. I will be building the car for the drag strip. please don't hate me for it.

Please excuse my grammar and poor typing skills. I am not well written.

I drag race my car; nothing to be ashamed of. If I was really serious about drag racing I would just do a LS1 conversion though. BP motors are fantastic, and you can make great power, but you have the potential to make a lot more with an LSx motor.

Well, There is lots of good info on here to learn from.

With rods, pistons, and proper tuning these engine scan put out some serious power

feel free to discuss all you want especially transmission options and rear ends as im beginning to develop a headache on that part of a miata drag car im used to big clunky solid axles

I will be discussing it in my build thread titled 11's on the Motor, 9's on the Nitrous. There have been some fast runs on a Miata 5 speed, but they are weak. The 6 speed is stronger, but has a very low first gear. To low in my opinion, if you are making much power. I think I will put a Quaife gearset in my 5 speed. It has tall enough 1st gear to get past the 60' mark before shifting.

The 1.8 rear end is pretty strong. I have broken a few axles, but I think it was due to an improper axle angle resulting from making the car lighter. As the car got lighter, the car got taller, and that made the axle cv angle to high. The key is to adjust the ride height and spring rate, so that when you launch the car, the axle is straight.
