Seriously. Doing 'different for the sake of being different' is what we make fun of the clubroadster folks for doing. You are ignoring track-tested and proven approaches because why?

patsmx5 07-16-2013 03:22 PM

Cause stock pistons are beast. It took 31psi PLUS DETONATION to break one on my last motor.

Big turbo is for big power, not to be different. SC to help spool big turbo and make more low-end power.

Track cars and sleeper street-cars are different. I'm not building a track car.

I think they might not be as different as you think. My guess is a 500whp street car will run into many of the same problems as a 260whp track car.

I mean come on, if you are just trying to amuse us I salute you. But you had high intake temps on your old setup, so your solution is to take the IC out of the airflow? Next you will tell us you're gonna use the FFS ecool to help fight your intake temps while your IC still doesn't see clean air.

A track car I would pull the a/c condenser out of the way, put a huge IC up front, duct it all in, and put some well-spaced ducts in my hood and bam, problem solved.

On my street car, I'm not loosing the a/c and I'm not cutting the hood. I'm also not changing the stock bumper in any way.

My intercooler wasn't getting enough airflow (bad placement/ducting) and it was very close to a hot radiator. I did enough testing/measuring to know the problem was: Not enough airflow and being heat soaked by a hot radiator. New position will get it away from a hot radiator, and good fans should improve airflow.

Will it fix it? Dunno. I'm going to try it and see. I hope it works well, but hope's not a tool. I will try it and report the results.

FTFY.

Not putting a bigger intercooler up front for everyone to see. Wouldn't be a sleeper then. :) Building a sleeper isn't easy.

Thanks! Long time no talk. I've been following your SAAB story over at m.net, looks sweet.

yeah, it's really tough building a sleeper. If only they'd produce flat black IC's, are a least a cost effective manner in which to convert shiny silver ICs to matte black so they are effectively invisible, thus sleeper. if only...

I think the real limitation is that you want to overthink and underproduce in order to be different and you're using "sleeper" as an excuse.

patsmx5 07-18-2013 01:38 PM

Do you REALLY think that?! Seriously?

Braineack 07-18-2013 01:39 PM

with your refusal to put an FMIC in it's most efficient location under the guise that you will no longer be a sleeper, with the most simplest of solutions to that issue being utilized by yours truly and many others...yes.

patsmx5 07-18-2013 01:40 PM

You can still see a big black intercooler up front too, it's just a different color. Not putting one up front. Get over it? Why would you even care where I put my intercooler?

patsmx5 07-18-2013 01:42 PM

If you have it, then you know. Just go look in the front bumper of your car and you'll see a black intercooler, no? Take a pic, what do you see? A black intercooler.
