Hi

I'm back. Have a new turbo setup now, EFR7670. Might be making some changes soon to improve spool. :noob:

18psi 07-14-2013 07:58 PM

Oh snap welcome back dude :)

viperormiata 07-15-2013 12:16 AM

Sup bitch

Braineack 07-15-2013 07:31 AM

the deal was $50... I have yet to receive this donation.

bcrx7 07-15-2013 01:05 PM

Cheque's in the mail...

FRT_Fun 07-15-2013 01:26 PM

wtf is a cheque

patsmx5 07-15-2013 06:41 PM

Don't have 50, just gave my all my monies to 18psi!!!

In other news, I will be making changes to improve spool... :)

18psi 07-15-2013 06:55 PM

You need to start a build thread, ASAP.

Or just pick up where you left off in your old one lol

magnamx-5 07-16-2013 10:48 AM

welcome back buddy

patsmx5 07-16-2013 11:08 AM

Will start a build thread shortly. Got a lot to put in it!

soviet 07-16-2013 11:12 AM

Here's the dyno you have to beat

patsmx5 07-16-2013 11:19 AM

If I don't beat that I'll part out the car.

well, you're not beating it from 0-6000RPM right now, we know that...

That's gonna change soon. ;)

Braineack 07-16-2013 12:10 PM

we shall see, shan't we?

interesting Soviet didn't need such bandaids and complexity to get his turbo to spool so well, as well as provide such great top end...

Don't think that turbo will make 600whp no matter what head you put on it.

EFR turbos are sweet! Baindaids and complexity here I come!

I don't think YOU will make 600whp on that turbo any turbo.

patsmx5 07-16-2013 01:02 PM

Can't wait to quote that.

In all seriousness, 400-500 should be plenty.

soviet 07-16-2013 01:12 PM

I'll be impressed if you make honest 400whp

FRT_Fun 07-16-2013 01:22 PM

Less talk more action ploz

Fireindc 07-16-2013 01:28 PM

Pat... is this Patsmx5? Why did you change your handle and confuse me?

patsmx5 07-16-2013 01:59 PM

Well it's around 300-350 now, I hope with more boost I break 400. This thing flows over 60lb/min, I would think it could make more than 400.

patsmx5 07-16-2013 02:00 PM

Yessir. Cause Rick banned me and the mods here won't un-ban my old name.

Braineack 07-16-2013 02:02 PM

I was supposed to ban this one, but i got lazy. I need my $50.

patsmx5 07-16-2013 02:05 PM

Only way I'm giving you 50 is if you mail me that alternator board I need.

Fireindc 07-16-2013 02:07 PM

I don't know why you were banned previously, but I see you as a good contributing member to this community, which is why i remember you in the first place. Welcome back.

Really? What cause?

If by "not loyal to the cause" you mean trying new things and pushing limits and sharing my successes and failures for everyone to learn from, then yeah, I'm guilty. I'm about to build a new setup that's uncommon (high boost, high comp) and I'm going to share how I did it and how it works and if shit blows up, I'll share that too. It's how I roll.

18psi 07-16-2013 02:24 PM

And that's why I wanted you back :)

If you were making 300-350 you would trap a lot faster than 83mph in 1/8 mile. I did 90mph in 1/8 at less than 300whp

no, as in, helping Rick successfully waste tens of thousands of dollars by helping violate the terms and conditions of the sale of homemadeturbo.com and effectively turning it into a ghost town.

The owners of mt.net also own homemadeturbo.com now as well, and if you're still associated with reelhomemadeturbo, then there's a conflict of interest and you should still not be allowed back here.

miata2fast 07-16-2013 02:38 PM

A lot of shit talking in this thread. Me like!

Soviet, what is with all the hate? :dunno:

Pat, heard a lot about you. Welcome back.

When I was on this forum back in the day, it was a TIGHT group of people. Everyone had the others back, and helped each other out. The HMT group was the same way. We stayed together, did things our way. Not much different than it was here. I didn't tell Rick to buy HMT though.

Soviet, yes the MPH is low, you are right. It cuts out bad up top, I have ignition problems under load. I'm upgrading it when I put the MS3 in.

soviet 07-16-2013 03:07 PM

because deep inside a compound setup is something I'd love to do and it bothers me how you're doing it.

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyy stock pistons

thenuge26 07-16-2013 03:11 PM

Seriously. Doing 'different for the sake of being different' is what we make fun of the clubroadster folks for doing. You are ignoring track-tested and proven approaches because why?

patsmx5 07-16-2013 03:22 PM

Cause stock pistons are beast. It took 31psi PLUS DETONATION to break one on my last motor.

patsmx5 07-16-2013 03:25 PM

Big turbo is for big power, not to be different. SC to help spool big turbo and make more low-end power.

Track cars and sleeper street-cars are different. I'm not building a track car.

thenuge26 07-16-2013 03:30 PM

I think they might not be as different as you think. My guess is a 500whp street car will run into many of the same problems as a 260whp track car.

I mean come on, if you are just trying to amuse us I salute you. But you had high intake temps on your old setup, so your solution is to take the IC out of the airflow? Next you will tell us you're gonna use the FFS ecool to help fight your intake temps while your IC still doesn't see clean air.

A track car I would pull the a/c condenser out of the way, put a huge IC up front, duct it all in, and put some well-spaced ducts in my hood and bam, problem solved.

On my street car, I'm not loosing the a/c and I'm not cutting the hood. I'm also not changing the stock bumper in any way.

My intercooler wasn't getting enough airflow (bad placement/ducting) and it was very close to a hot radiator. I did enough testing/measuring to know the problem was: Not enough airflow and being heat soaked by a hot radiator. New position will get it away from a hot radiator, and good fans should improve airflow.

Will it fix it? Dunno. I'm going to try it and see. I hope it works well, but hope's not a tool. I will try it and report the results.

FTFY.

patsmx5 07-18-2013 01:29 PM

Not putting a bigger intercooler up front for everyone to see. Wouldn't be a sleeper then. :) Building a sleeper isn't easy.

o wait they do!

yeah, it's really tough building a sleeper. If only they'd produce flat black IC's, are a least a cost effective manner in which to convert shiny silver ICs to matte black so they are effectively invisible, thus sleeper. if only...

I think the real limitation is that you want to overthink and underproduce in order to be different and you're using "sleeper" as an excuse.

patsmx5 07-18-2013 01:38 PM

Do you REALLY think that?! Seriously?

Braineack 07-18-2013 01:39 PM

with your refusal to put an FMIC in it's most efficient location under the guise that you will no longer be a sleeper, with the most simplest of solutions to that issue being utilized by yours truly and many others...yes.

patsmx5 07-18-2013 01:40 PM

You can still see a big black intercooler up front too, it's just a different color. Not putting one up front. Get over it? Why would you even care where I put my intercooler?

patsmx5 07-18-2013 01:42 PM

If you have it, then you know. Just go look in the front bumper of your car and you'll see a black intercooler, no? Take a pic, what do you see? A black intercooler.
