Smile Hi all

Hey guys so I have been lurking on here for a while reading up on what I can. Decided I should finally make my intro post. I am 28, married, and the first kid is on the way. I work at a hospital as a developer of sorts. I have zero formal training with anything to do with cars. So I kind of stumble my way through these things but I am enjoying it immensely so far. Unfortunately I have broken a few things but that is all part of the learning curve. I bought my first miata last march after searching for about a month waiting for the right car. I finally landed on an 03 miata SE(with the non torsen lsd) with just under 70k miles on it. The original goal was to have a turbo in it by now but with us expecting that got put on hold(literally found out the day before I was planning to do a large parts order). The wife has been a bit resistant to me dumping a bunch of money into the car at this point which makes sense. So the plan changed and is a bit fluid at this point.

So far I have just done maintenance to get the car into a shape that feels safe to turbo. Replaced the plugs, changed all fluids, removed some rocker rust(surface luckily), valve cover gasket, and the other regular maintenance stuff. I ran compression tests a few months ago and they came back a little weird. Cyl 1: 160 Cyl 2&3: 170 cyl 4: 180. The difference between 1 and 4 is where the concern is but overall for the age I think the results are OK. Pressure held fine on all of them though.

I take public transportation to and from work every day so it sits in my garage most of the week. On the weekends we would go for drives but that has slowed down and we just take the wife's car most of the time. In close to the year I have had it I have only put 3k miles on it.

The plan going forward right now is install my AFR that I bought a few months ago. I also have to fix my post cat O2 sensor since it is throwing a code. Depending on a few other things I will most likely pick up the diy megasquirt 3 kit and then slowly accumulate the rest of what I need to turbo the car for a low boost build. I think the most reasonable goal at this point would be a 180 hp at the wheels build but we will see how it goes.

Anyway so that is my long winded intro. I am glad to be here and will hopefully be joining the turbo family soon.
