I tried to be nice. I thought the airbrush work was cool. I was also curious about the Norwegian black market for expired US license tags. For all I know, I'm sitting on a gold mine!

I was thinking about covering the tailgate and bumper of my pickup truck in tags and seeing if they can figure out where to send the ticket from the red-light camera. |
They will ticket everyone. Problem solved.
|
I thought his intro was quite mild.
But seriously. He thought he would post his car here, and everyone would start sucking his dick about the appearance as they spoonfeed him step-by-step on how to turbo his car. If that's the kind of research he puts in before he posts, he was gonna get banned anyway. |
As with others, I think the car is fine except for the license plate thing. Not really a fan of the stance either, but it's not as bad in that regard as some I've seen.

Hello Braineack, Could you please delete the thread, now named "Hi MT.net. Help me make my interesting car project legit. be gentle, I'm new.". I thought this was a mature forum, but I was so wrong. When Moderators/Administrators start changing thread names, it just gets ridiculous. The thread does also contain images with copyright from Norway, and needs to be removed. After you have deleted my thread, you can also delete my user. Thanks in advance, Regards, Alexander  |
you better do it Brain, he sounds super serious...
What about the internet police?? |

I assume when you sign up for an account you hit 'agree' to the part that says all images posted to the site are property of IB Brands and if you want them taken down you can go fuck yourself.
|
Ok. So this thread was a good example of people going a little too far out of their way to be assholes to newbs.
And it's gonna stop. We (the staff) have discussed this situation at length, and we are in agreement on this. The meet-n-greet section is a safe haven for new users to post their shit without cluttering the rest of the forum, and while it's perfectly ok to say "Meh, I'm not a huge fan of such-n-such...", there will no longer be, as sixshooter rather elegantly put it, dick-slamming. It's simple, folks: If we drive away every newb who shows up, then the forum becomes stagnant. We also fail in our moral obligation to educate the world about the benefits of turbos and kittens, and just wind up boosting the membership at CR. I don't like boosting the membership at CR. I just handed out a bunch of infractions. 18PSI, you only got a warning, because an infraction would have resulted in an auto-ban for you. This should tell you something. I hate doing this because it makes me feel like an elementary-school teacher pasting frowny faces on the attendance chart, but a certain number of you folks aren't leaving us with any choice. You see what it says under my name there to the left? It says "Don't be a Dick." That's Wheaton's Law, folks. |

Also I noticed you specifically said the meet-n-greet section is a safe haven. Does that mean if some hapless noob were to make a 'how do I trubo?' thread in Engine Performance or DIY Turbo that we can release the hounds? |

I would rather have that then have this site slowly turn into CR.
I personally am sick of people showing up here contaminating this forum with drift crap and stretched tire lameness. I came here a long time ago with a beat setup full of band aids. I asked questions that got answered and I took advice. Now I have a kick ass setup with a megasquirt. These new dorifto hella flush clowns don't take good advice, this is why I find bashing acceptable. If they wanna stay here and have successful, tasteful cars, that's great. If they choose to not take our advice and drive fugly, rigged up cars; then CR can have them. They don't belong here. |
and the blacks and jews!
seriously though, give them a few posts to wise up and figure it out before you cram your balls in their mouth. If they are rude and continue to be the willful ignorant, and rational handling of the situation is fruitless, by all means, release the hounds. And yes, nugent, if they crap up the non noob sections with stupid bullshit, fuck with them until they tear up. maybe give them a single post warning "this is not the noob section and you will be eaten alive" or something. |

And zero people does a dead forum make.

Just respect the sanctity of the News forum. It's here for the SPECIFIC purpose of giving newbs a place to post their shit that doesn't contaminate the main forum, and to give 'em a chance to learn the ropes. Not everybody was born awesome.

Is that really necessary? How is that going to make this site better? I am not a Moderator, and doing so would be out of line.

Just admit that you're referring to FaeFae and get it over with. |

People need to remember that not everyone has tons of forum experience, and a little patience and guidance will go a long way to creating good productive members that contribute to the site. Also, drifters, drag racers, road racers, autocross, rally, etc. all have something in common. They are car crafters that further develop the car we come here to talk about. You may not be into what they are doing, but the ones with talent all contribute to the greater good. |

I usually do the best work on my cars when i'm hammered. True story. When i'm hammered, i'm too scared to use the sawzall or cutoff wheel, so half-assing stuff isn't the easy option. |
I do think that the talent pool got a bit split up when the V8 guys got their own forum. I miss having ZX-TX around here.
|
Tell them to quit being bitches and turbo their V8 cars so they have to come back here.
|
I've been around here since the days of WhiteRoadster when the "hot" setup was an Emanage Blue running a Greddy kit with JimB pipes (if you don't know who JimB is, you're not old-skool)... so being a military aviator and a forum veteran, I'm fully qualified to weigh in here.
That car is pretty cool. I sit across the office from a Marine Captain (Harrier pilot) who said... "kinda cool, but Miata's are still gay"... which was some seriously high fucking praise. I used to be a pretty big offender of noobs (reference the 2 STICKY's in the Meet&Greet forum), but only after they'd shown their asses and proven they'd be no use to the community... not before. Perhaps I've grown up a bit or whatever, but in my advanced years (37), it takes a lot for me to get into an internet pissing match about what a car should look like. This place will always be the best overall Miata forum specifically due to it's intolerance of standard forum bullshittery that plagues the rest of the interwebs. Our "special" members make the forum what it is, and the learning curves for noobs can be steep... but everybody eventually grows up, and life priorities tend to change. I still hammer the occasional noob now and then, but for some reason, I just don't get as big a boner about it as I used to. Maybe the wife will let me have another one someday (big boner) and I'll be back in full stride, dropping from the top-rope like when I was young back in '08. Peace be with you bitches. |
I'm still trying to figure out how one of the most civil hazing/flaming threads we've ever had in the history of mt.net is getting so much attention.
I rated y8s's reply as one of his best ever. |

I love the fact that we can, in a totally serious manner, rank the severity of our various hazing/flaming threads and comment on their merit. This forum > everything else. :) |

As someone whose anus was thoroughly violated by Sir SamNavy, I can vouch for the above. I have spent the last several years trying to unshow my ass and prove that, while not necessarily useful to the community, my presence is at least neutral. |
The thread does also contain images with copyright from Norway, and needs to be removed. We can be helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, and cheerful if we only decide to be. I'll leave the discussions about obedient, thrifty, clean, and Reverent, for another day. |
I still think the fact that he copied a silly Silvia drift/art car is funny.

One of the Jamborees turned cannibalistic. I guess we were not that prepared after all.
|
Be the predator, not the prey. That is being prepared.

I and both my brothers made Eagle. My mother got a presidential citation soon after the last one. It said something to the effect of "you must be doing something right, keep it up."
