Hi My name is Kevin and I'm a miataholic

As the title says, I am a miataholic. I got my first miata a little over a year ago. I didn't even have it 6 months before I was hit by an 18 wheeler on the highway. The insurance company totaled it out and everyone said to move on. But I was in love. I bought the car back and went through the whole rebuild process. About a month after getting the title and the car on the road, the engine blew up. I was pissed but still wasn't ready to give up my miata dream. I started shopping around for engines and got a call from a friend of mine. He was was getting ready to sell his, and offered it to me for less than an engine would cost. So I bought it the next day.
Hear is what it looked like when I first bought it: (previous owner added a Photoshop lowering kit) https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402957974 This is what it looked like a month later, the blue one is my first one: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402957974 |

"Hi, Kevin!" What are your plans? Welcome. I'm 'rebuilding' a Miata myself. |
The photoshop car looks great

Thank you Turbofan! I went ahead an created a DIY turbo thread:
https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo...8/#post1140485 I figured since I would be on here a lot I might as well start documenting my struggles. I would also love to hear every ones opinions, advice, and suggestions. I guess I should share a little of my background now, I am a Mechanical Engineering student who loves cars. I have worked at a car audio shop as an installer, but didn't like it. I love working on cars, but I prefer to make my living working on a computer. I have an acumen for CAD software, and love designing things. It all started for me when I got an audio system in my first car that was worth more than the car itself and I haven't stopped personalizing my vehicles. I then graduated to the performance side of things and started adding bolt-on parts. After that whenever anything broke I fixed it myself. Until now the hardest thing I have done with a car was take the top end of my Celica GTS engine apart and replace a lift bolt. I sold the Celica wanting a rear wheel drive car with more room, in the engine compartment. So I bought a miata. I don't have good luck with the things but I love them anyways! |
I have to ask...
You're going to paint those side skirts, right? |
I need to paint the car due to the accident, I want the car to be a different color anyways. Did you check out my build thread? It explains a good bit about whats going on with the car and my plans for it.

No. Nobody needs more red. Ugh. So bad. |
I tend to agree with you about red cars, but I'm talking about Rick's red track car specifically. So good.
|
By the way, sorry to threadjack OP. Any plans on parting out that bum turbo kit you bought?
|
Thanks guys!
Monk: I'm Looking to sell some parts, Mainly the ECU. Were you interested in something? |
Not personally, but I bet there are quite a few people who would be interested in that down pipe.
|
I'm going to try to make it work but if it doesn't work out I will definitely keep that in mind.
