Default I'm driving my sister's car

No, really...

Greetings everyone! I finally stopped lurking through the tech pages and decided to create an account.
I've owned my 2003 miata for about 2 years now.
The car originally belonged to a neighbor of mine who had it sitting beside a barn for a couple years. The car had been at the mercy of the Texas sun and had seen some better days but, it was in pretty damn good shape. Sister turns 16 so Dad decides she needs a car. Stops by our neighbor's house and ends up purchasing the car for about $2500. After struggling for a few months, my father decided it was in my sister's best interest and safety to buy a car that requires less focus to drive. Pops was about to sell the car so I hit the bank before he could list it for sale; the hairdressing chariot was mine.

I initially drove it from Texas to San Diego, only having the AC give out on me half way through Arizona (yay!) but, she was a runner.

Fast forward 2 years. The car has been great. I fitted a matching emerald green hardtop and some 6UL to update the looks from the discount tire 17s and torn soft top (thanks to my local meth head), LRB door cards wrapped in tan vinyl to match the interior, nardi wheel, and my oh-so-loved Doge gauges from Revlimiter. And, yes I plan to get rid of the hoops.

Deployment came this year, so I've saved up quite a bit of money, and with my 5 speed on its way out and an utter lack of power, I've taken on the task of a k24/zf swap courtesy of Kmiata!
Turbo will be in route soon after the swap is done but I figured this site could be a great tool for any obstacles that come my way.

Thank you all for reading! Looking forward to sharing my journey.

Also, some pics of my beloved MK6 R. I'm a huge VW guy so I had to plug it.

the mk7R is such a nice car. If I didn't owe so much on this car I'd probably own one. I've got too much invested in my R now though.

Thanks I really appreciate that! It's been a long deployment hahaha coming up on 9 months. The NB has so much more in store for it. Thank you for the kind words.

Welcome to the forum. There's a lot of experiences and information housed within this forum. There's several active and former military here as well.

Good luck on your project.
