I'm in Iraq and want to boost
Hi. I'm a marine. Reserve style. Anyways, I've been lurking around a bit, and plan to add some boost to my bone stock 95 when I get back to her in.. like 3 months. Or two. I can never tell with the damn military.
I'm mostly into drag, but I've got an interest in autox and the like, just never tried it.

Welcome Devildog.
Make sure to take some time to read the FAQ if you haven't already, it may help steer your though process as you decide which kit (or parts) you want.
I turbo'd my car stateside and added a bunch of stuff while I was in the 'box. Just resist the urge to whip out the CC and buy something too hastily, you have a couple of months to do your homework about what's out there and what's worked for other members. Here are a couple sites to get you started:
Flyin' Miata 1 800 FLY MX5s
Bell Experimental Group - BEGi

Always good to see more Military around. I'm currently Miata-less in Germany, but this site has taught me everything I ever needed to know about the three Miatas that I have owned and boosted, so plenty of info for you here.
Just do your homework, read read read read and read some more. Do you have any kind of background in boost at all?
Welcome.

I also have a turbo Miata as a result of a deployment.. I got to play in the mountains of Afghanistan though.
Anyways I agree with what Kotomile said, make sure you do your homework. I rushed some things on mine, but still had a great time doing it.

Yeah, thats one (maybe only?) advantage of being over here, is that I have plenty of time to research and I can't half *** it. I used to have a DSM, so I'm fairly knowledgable when it comes to the boost.
First I need to get a 2nd car, I had waaay too many times where my dsm would break and I had to rush and fix it to get to work. Hate that.
Good to see a couple fellow servicemembers in the miata crowd!

Welcome and thanks for your service.
A lot of service guys go for the FM or BEGi kits since you can install them easily during leave...but since you're reserve you can consider a cheap DIY setup, and get a lot more bang for the buck, especially if you cruise the classifieds. I would not shy away from used parts if they're quality to begin with...and the only thing I've ever regretted is not setting my goals higher.
Enjoy your stay. Lots of support here.

Oh yeah. One thing I liked was the amount of DIY on here, manifold wise. I'm hesitantly interested in a twin scroll setup (buddy has an Evo 8) but it always requires a huge wallet or a DIY special. I just need to do something about this flux-core mig contraption I have (ewwww, I know) and I'll be good.
Gotta have something to occupy myself during 30 days of vacation, welding it is! haha

I'll be honest with ya man i was thinking the same way about autocrossing, i was thinking its boring.. Hell, I rode with few people the last meet of the year and i'll be honest man i'm hooked. I've been with few people for drags and i tell you there is no comparison between autocrossing and drags.
I'll take autocrossing any day of the week.
