Hello everyone! I purchased a pristine 1992 Miata about a year ago from the original owner. The car only had ~51k miles when purchased and came with the original hardtop. The car is white and has the B package with around 55k miles now. When purchased it was 100% stock but I've since added a stereo with bluetooth capability and wheels/tires. The tires that came on it were from 2002! It was an older gentleman(late 70s) who owned it and it's been dealer serviced since new. This will be my first more serious Miata "build", but this is my 6th Miata I've owned (all NAs and one NB). My current plan is to follow Sheiend's 6 step plan and hopefully be a little north of 200whp when finished. I just received my MS3Pro and a few other items from DIYAutotune a few days ago and plan to start that install this weekend. I've been lingering and reading for many years here but plan to start posting so I knew I should properly introduce myself.

Early cars are appreciating quickly and have multiple weak points.
These can easily be overcome but
The most valuable cars will be completely stock and have low mileage.
Yours fits this description perfectly. You're also B package with factory hardtop. Even better.
10 years from now you will wish it stayed stock.
I'd get a NB beater with the 6 speed to mod.
Most of the weak points have been addressed and you're starting with the 1.8 with the good heads.
My favorite is 01 or 02 with the torsen rear end but any NB is a better platform to start with.
The NB will NEVER be a collectors item.

Thanks for the compliments! This is for sure a nice car and probably on the nicer end of the scale of what should be modded but I much prefer the looks and styling of a NA over a NB. I do understand that it would potentially be worth more stock, but I really want to do a nice clean build on a NA. My last car was a LS swapped FD RX7 and I absolutely love everything about my Miata except for it's lack of power. I would rather start my build with a perfect stock example than someone else's problem child.
My plans are turbo kit on stock engine with all supporting mods (cooling, etc), Torsen swap, fox coilovers, wilwood brakes, probably some chassis bracing (FM butterfly brace) and hopefully just enjoy the car at wherever that lands me power wise. If/when the engine needs some attention, I'll probably 1.8 swap.

You prefer NAs to NBs so why not buy an NA with many of the modz you need anyway?
Sure there's going to be issues with "someone else's problem" but you will save money on the parts they've already installed and wont feel so bad about modding a car that's not pristine in the first place.

That's all true but I do enjoy the process and satisfaction of hopefully building my own car to my liking.
