Default I've been gone long enough to be considered a noob :)

Hi,
The last time I posted was in 2006 and at that time I lived in Indy and had a 93 with a greddy turbo, RX7 intercooler, bipes timing controller, ACT HD clutch, 1.8 injectors, HP fuel pump, free flow exhaust system, and a BEGI fuel pressure regulator. It was a blast to drive but I went insane and traded it in, please forgive me, on a 2006 Legend Lime Mustang GT in 2012. Long story short, I eventually grew tired of the Mustang and missed my little miata. So, I sold the Mustang for a very good price and found a low mileage Garnet Red Mica 2003LE with parchment leather interior, canvas top, with a 6 speed tranny. I'm in the process of upgrading the suspension and replacing the clutch with the intention of boosting the car. A lot of things have changed since I did my last build and I see that a lot of reading is in order! The main thing that gives me a little trepidation is that I'm not sure I can program the megasquirt. So, I may settle for the FM Stage 1 even though the MK kit looks super for the price! That's in the future for now.

So, Hi, and please indulge any stupid questions I may come up with.

Oh, I now live in KY between Louisville and Lexington and am 66 years young.

Welcome back. What was / is your profession?

Time to update your location and signature. If you can handle that, you're on your way to tuning that MS3!

Megasquirt is easy. If I could figure it out, anybody could. Besides, it comes mostly tuned if you get it from MS Labs. And the computer auto-tunes your fuel table now. Check our vendor section and look at the product called MS3 Basic. Also in the vendor section, you should find MK Turbo. Take a long look at his kits and pricing before dropping huge coin on parts from Colorado.

Wow, someone who joined MT before me, rare! FM parts have great fit and finish, you're definitely getting what you pay for with them, but if that's too much, MkTurbo is a great option. For fuel and ignition control, you simply cannot beat 640cc injectors and a PNP MS3 Basic, total should be around $1320+shipping. Finish your suspension upgrade, make sure you've replaced 100% of the fluids, get the GMax reroute from supermiata along with their radiator, and finally upgrade your clutch, the ACT HD for the 1.8 is still a great option.

I was thinking of getting the complete kit from MKTurbo for around $4K which has an MS3PRO included as part of the package. Along with the wideband and oil line kit. Whats the difference between their MS3Pro and this MS3 Basic you mention?

The pro has more capabilities. Lars at mkturbo will be able to explain why he chose it. I'm sure he has his reasons. His judgment is good.

You bought a non-coyote mustang after 2011? That is crazy. From one OG to another, Welcome back.

The MSPNP-Pro is made and sold by DIYAutotune while the MS3 Basic is made by Reverant@MSLabs. Overall both are very similar, just some slight hardware differences, and differences in support and such. I went with the Pro's due to the lifetime email and phone support from DIY, and being based out of the USA.

I will be at Miata's at the Gap and will have some setups for sale with me. There will be a discount if you pick one up there since I don't have to deal with shipping the exhaust.

Not really. Price was a huge factor on the Mustang. I couldn't afford the newer 5.0L Mustangs and the 06 GT I got for $17,000 and had.......11,000 miles on it

And thanks for the welcome.

Nah, I can't make it down there. What sort of HP and at what PSI does the base tune for your kit get me?

Thanks in advance.
