Mazda Fanatic
hello all,
my name is Jessie i live in Boise Idaho i am currently building an FE-DOHC that is going to be turbo'd, nitrous, and methanol injection fed. from everything i have heard from people on mx6.com the bottom end hasn't been pushed to it's breaking point yet. so after reading that i thought ok well i am going to do my best to get the most power out of the full stock engine with new bearings/seals/gaskets. now before everyone start's flaming on this post. the nitrous and meth are going to be on a window switch in small quantities, and starting on about 10 to 15psi eventually hoping to bump the boost to 25psi. the FE-DOHC is going into my (FD3S) 94 Mazda RX7 i got tired of the rotary for the mean time, at least until i can save up enough to build a decently ported 20b turbo. anyway that's about it for now that i can think of. thanks Jessie |
since i need a minimum of 10 posts before i can post in the WTB section or really anything i was wondering if anyone seeing this has an SSAutochrome 1.8L BP top mount turbo manifold for sale. ill post a pic when i find one
|
FE3? Add location. That manifold is shit. Welcome.
|
What are you going to post a pic of?

yes the FE3 is the FE-DOHC, just another "name" for it i guess.
i have read that the SSAutochrome manifold is crap but also have read that it is good. but the main reason why i am after it is for clearance of my steering. and i love the way it looks. i have been trying to hunt one down and have so far been unsuccessful. |
so are there any of these manifolds floating around? because i cant seem to find any on ebay or anything.
|
Dude, that manifold is shit. Any ebay mani is shit, except the few good cast log manifolds out there. I don't know if they even still make them.
You either need a custom piece or a decent quality OTS manifold that will work. But I figured since you can swap an engine, slapping together a manifold yourself can't be much harder. Right? |
If it comes from eBay it probably crap. I had a ss autochrome mani 8 or so years ago on my SR motor. It was great. That being said I am the only I repeat ONLY person I have ever talked to that had a good experiance.
Bond- is that a 650 or 1000 in your avatar |
It was a sv1k, but it's sold, and I'm not cool anymore.
|
All good. Thinking of selling mine cause after living in Europe Americans scare the hell out of me. Plus just starting to lose interest. Other riders are either dicks or ride to slow. Sad to hear ya sold it.
|
i get that they were made with shit quality and all, but the main reason i want one is for the style/design. i was planning on building my own but i wanted the dimensions and having one in person is way easier to ref. off of. the only difference in the appearance of the manifold that i would make based on the SSAutochrome is the wastegate flange would be moved to the collector because i have enough space for the wastegate to fit on the side, and it would have better flow.
|
The manifold you linked to is, indeed, a piece of shit.
Please save yourself the frustration and trouble and get a decent-quality part, especially if you really are shooting for the moon, power-wise. |
Also do not spam to get access to pm's and classifieds. We look down on that.
|
Also post nudes of gf/bf/cat. We require that.
|
sorry guys, just trying to get to ten posts don't know what else to say that's why i just started posting BS sorry again

haha
the only problem is my dad wont help me put the engine in until i get everything for the FE-DOHC and all i am missing as of right now is the manifold that i am searching for. i don't have any recent pics but i do have some older ones when it was still running under it's own rotary power. |

|
Hmm sounds like an interesting build. I like the 4 cylinder swap into the rx7.
I am glad you are not from Florida. |

yeah if you go on mx6.com in the FE-DOHC section there is alot of interesting info on there and alot of other people that have experimented on different idea's i chose the FE because i want to keep it mazda and make it unique alot of people have no idea that mazda basically made a 4g63 as well but it came with smaller ports and forged internals. so just to show them other guys out there that mazda is simply amazing! maybe convert others over from playing with all these other toys and step into a "real" car. ;)

it did until the apex seals went out on it and it's 1500.00 for the rebuild kit (only parts) and so i went the cheaper/more reliable route until i can afford to build a 20b turbo (3 rotor) with a decent port job.
|
GO noob go!:noob:
I'm all for the FE turbo swap into the FD. I also like your idea of getting the shit manifold just as a template to build your own. I KNOW that you won't be tempted to actually use it. |
Shit 1500 for a rebuild kit. Here i thought mazda would make a regular wear and tear and fairly often replace part cheaper.
|
yeah the 1500 is just for the master rebuild kit from pineapple racing, atkins is good and all but i've heard stories, where as pineapple seals are re-useable and guaranteed. as soon as you crack into the rotary engine case, you have to replace all the seals, unless you want to keep wasting money by rebuilding it over and over again.
