Default Miata Virgin from GA

hey everyone, I just bought my first miata. I needed a everyday car that was fun to drive. I have always been into mustangs for the past few years. I am not as fimiliar with the miata as i should be. So I plan on doing more reading and searching.

Anyways here is some info, its a 93 with AC and PS. 230K, the guy "said" the engine has been over hauled (timing belt and I think new head).
its got sparco wheels, KYB AGX shocks/struts,unknown springs, Strut bar, aftermarket turn signals, Magnaflow exhaust, and im sure some other stuff.

Its a fun car but I would like to have around 150ish so a turbo is in the near future.

here is a quick picture.

Welcome to the board. You are definitely going to want more then 150hp. But if you did want to say at 150hp, a basic greddy turbo kit will get you there right out of the box. It's just costly to upgrade.

yea im looking at doing something on a small budget, and keeping the power somewhat low. It is my primary car, and i still want some decent mpg. lol
Ive looked at the Greddy kit and the Shanghai-S with the "china charger" haha that still cracks me up..

Honestly i know that kit is on the lower quality side, but i kinda just want a turbo car(never had one) and add 40-60 hp.. My only question i havent found yet, is if i run a Rising Rate Fuel Management thing and a megasquirt would this be all i need. Or could i just run a bipes acu(I know this is more of a bandaid). Keeping in mind i only want to run 5-7 pounds, and maybe intercooled later down the road.. Most of the board seems really leaning towards the megasquirt or a compete ecu takeover sorta thing..

Cobra has 2.76 upper,Steg. Stage 4 port, Mafia, Boost a Pump, JLT Rai, Spec Alum Flywheel, Spec 2+ Clutch, UPR Firewall adjuster,LDC freeplay mod,UPR X pipe,Magnaflow CB,Dynojet Wideband, Speedhut Gauges, Poly subframe, diff, control arm bushings, Diff brace

It put down just over 500. about 13-14lbs of boost.

If you go with a megasquirt you won't need the rising rate fuel pressure regulator. Well, what you should do is get a basic kit (Greddy or Shangahi - personally I'd do the shanghai), get a megasquirt, then pick up some larger injectors (300cc ish). You can get used injectors for cheap. Tune it up and then enjoy it.

As of now ive got some new tires and wheels on the way. My current tire setup doest hook very well.. Honestly i havent ran many people with my current mods. Ive wanted to see how i would do up against a stock/mildly modded z06.

Cool yea im going to keep looking in the classfieds and craigs. Also DIYautotune is like 5 miles from my house. I need to give them a call..

DIYautotune 5 minutes away... lucky. They tuned my MSPNP and I'm a happy customer.

You read the FAQ, right?

Welcome to the board. 150hp is a nice "starter" goal, you'll want more. Especially once you figure out that with a MS, injectors, and capable hardware, 230+ is within reach.

I would highly recommend that you check out the MegaSquirt MegaMeet at Road Atlanta at the end of April. All the guys from DIY will be there and a ton of boosted miata people. Also FM will be at the event.

yea ive been doin lots of reading I hope i can get off work because I really need to attend that event.. My bank account might not like me.

I do love how stuff for the miata is somewhat cheaper for aftermarket parts. If i did pumps and injectors for my cobra im looking at $1k lol

Well there are half as many injectors

Probably the best thing you'll discover is that working on this car is ridiculously easy.

^Kind of funny, I thought the opposite. My DW injectors were $400 for 4. My brand new 30lb'ers for the 5.0 were $125 for eight.
