Default New to boost

Hey folks,

Owned my 99 Sport for about 5 yrs, finally getting the ball rolling on turbo-ing it. Just got done upgrading the clutch and pressure plate. I've had a FM Voodoo II kit sitting in my garage for nearly a year and I decided that I should install it. I'm new to forced induction but fairly mechanically inclined.

Not even an hour into it I decided I am not going to be happy with the power levels the kit offers. I like the simplicity of the voodoo fuel controller but obviously want more boost. Right now I'm looking at my ecu options and am leaning towards the Xede for simplicity's sake.

Realize it's pricey for a piggyback but like I said, I want something simple and easy for me to use. Looking at megasquirt's website, well, that stuff is over my head.

For the most part, I plan on lurking and soaking up the info. Thanks...

Welcome, good choice on deciding early not to Voodoo. I personally hate hacking up my ECU harness and I'll never do it again.

If you've already got the Voodoo kit, sell the box on m.net and save for the Xede. It's a little more pricey, but it also COMES WITH INJECTORS, which is a large part of the price. I don't know if Corky will sell you one without injectors or if the thing will even drive a pair of RX7 550's.

I don't see a PnP MS for 99+'s coming along, but the tuning process after install will be essentially the same for any ECU... and is relatively easy with a competent dyno operator. Plus, the corporate knowledge is huge around here and somebody will be able to send you a base map to get you up and running until you can schedule an hour or two on the dyno.

It looks like you're doing the right homework, so congrats on that as well.
