I came over from CR, trying to come where the smart people post. :)

Interested in learning about engine management better. I'm already supercharged (just an M45, but it's fun.)

Basically, I bought the car in August 2011 bone stock, and about have it where I want it now. It's a 91.5 NA6.

what's that on the charge pipes behind the rad?

Looks like really big wire loom.

It's "ARC Cool Fins" - no idea if they do anything or not, but figured I'd try it out in [temporary] lieu of an intercooler. Actually read a lot of good things about them online, but again - haven't seen if they help (and doubt they actually do.)

Presupposing that they actually do "work" (in that they transfer an appreciable amount of heat between the charge pipes and the outside air), you have created what Corky Bell refers to as an interheater. IOW, you are transferring heat from the warm air that has just passed through the radiator into the charge pipe.

That said, I doubt that it's doing much actual harm. The amount of heat being transferred from the smooth, open inner surface of the charge pipe to the air passing through it is going to be extremely minimal. There's a reason that "real" intercoolers have such complex, convoluted insides, and it's not just for show.

Is that a monster can in the engine bay?

pusha 10-05-2012 03:23 PM

yeah, he's sponsored

33oh 10-10-2012 09:34 AM

Yeah I change the can out alot, radiator overflow can since I deleted the large tank. Will eventually buy a real one, just not top on the priority list since the soda cans work fine.

Sup bro.
Don't let people know we're from CR. Bad juju.

33oh 10-10-2012 10:58 AM

So this is where you're hiding? :)

dk wolf 10-10-2012 11:11 AM

Not hiding man.. I'm in plain site.
Dazednconfused took his trolling too far and I got blasted with collateral damage. But whatever... totally worth it. You'll soon realize how totally sucky that website was.

I'm pretty low key on this forum though. Glad to see you around though :D
look forward to your build

33oh 10-10-2012 11:21 AM

Haha yeah I do know how sucky it is already, why I'm looking elsewhere to roam. Good to see you too man, you get your hands on an NA over there yet?

dk wolf 10-10-2012 11:23 AM
