Default New guy here! :D

Hey whats up everyone? My name is Josh, and I recently traded my '07 Cobalt SS in on a pristine '05 lava orange Mazdaspeed Miata. Having owned an '88 RX-7 convertible in the past, I can easily say it's nice to get back to my roots behind the wheel of a convertible Mazda

Anywho, I have big plans for the car, but I just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. I look forward to meeting you all!

Here are a few pics I took @ my friend's house while out on my half hour test drive

Thank you for the warm welcomes everyone!

I was just informed over on miata.net that there were only 394 lava orange Mazdaspeeds ever made! That blew my mind!

lol oh no worries there. Already have alot of big plans for it, including Stance GR+ coilovers, some custom low offset 16" J-Line 6SL2's and the Flyin' Miata little enchilada kit

Ditch the Stance setup for FCM Bilsteins and the 16's for some uber sweet 15x9 6UL's. Once you have that setup, you'll never turn back

I guess you haven't seen what the new chevy engine is capable of. ZZP has a few 400 horse cars running around on stock bottom ends IIRC

Having been a member of the Cobalt community since '06, was a regional moderator on CobaltSS.net for several years, and have almost 13,000 posts on CobaltSS.net......yes, i'm quite aware of what a new Cobalt SS/TC is capable of.

However, I was very bored with Cobalt's.....make that FWD cars as a whole.

Maybe i'm in the wrong place, but I didn't get the car for power. The power is certainly a plus, and I enjoy driving it. But the end goal is to be a hard parker.

Then with your previous forum interactions, you should have known i wasnt talking to you, but instead the person who said it was a good trade in. Both cars have their perks and downfalls, but you probably already know that :-)

Liked asked before, what is a "hard parker"? Was that term coined in the vdub world or something? not being an ***, but more serious as i've never heard that before.

Think slammed with very low offset/wide fitment wheels. Lots of Miata's are already doing this, so I realize it's nothing new. But i've always felt Miata's pull the look off very well.

Who said I didn't have money? I spent most of the money I had saved on the down payment for the Miata. But I stripped alot of stuff off of the Cobalt.....most of which is already spoken for. I'll be using some of that money to get a start on things, and then chip away at what I want to do from there.

But no worries, i'll be using the factory 17"s as a track setup.........so it won't always be a hard parker. Just most of the time.

I'm gonna be honest and say that I don't even know what a y8s is. Your self-dubbed Miata maybe? Also I have nothing to hide. Yeah....I like impractical ride heights and wheels that aren't supposed to fit. So do hundreds of other people.....enough now to have desinated shows, forums, websites, etc etc. And being as i'll be running adjustable coilovers its not like I won't be able to adjust it to a more "reasonable" setting for the track/long trips.

And no, I haven't checked those sites out yet. My friend Jason told me about clubroadster, but I haven't visited the site yet. So far i've just joined here, miata.net and roadsterdrift.com.

Thanks for the input man. I like your obnoxious sense of humor. No homo.

Just because you don't agree with my taste in cars makes me a troll?

Tell ya what dude. Send me an exact spec sheet of your car. Year, color, options, what you have done to it......then I can make an exact replica of your car. And then you'll think i'm cool/have a cool car and we can be friends
