Short nose crank? If you are going to do a 1.8 swap that won't matter, but if you were thinking of keeping the original engine, you might want to find out.

ok, i dont know anything really about the miata engines, but ill find out thanks. why would that really matter?

Good, if you want to run the car with that engine for a while. The "short nose" crank is a large reliability problem with the early engines, I think few last past 70k miles.
