Yep. Nobody really has any beef with haltech; we diy types just like megasquirt.
Where are you located?

 

This is what I understood as well, as far as doing what my tuner recommends. I still have a bit more research to do, but as far as I've read and compared, the feature set is very similar. He runs a Haltech Elite in his Evo and Miata, as well as a couple other techs at the shop who run them in their Miata's and RX7's.

Located in the California Bay Area. Good to hear everyone here gets down with Haltech. I know my guy wouldn't steer me wrong for his benefit or anything like that, but it's cool to hear others think it works.

 

The haltech is way easier than TunerStudio+MS.

I'm in nor-cal too, and this is the 1st time I hear of haltech being popular here.
In fact, it's mostly the folks across the pond that tend to use it often.
Which tuner/shop are you going to?

I've no issue with haltech (don't even know it much tbh) just really unusual to hear this

 

I'm working with Richie at VL Motorsports in Livermore. So he tells me, he's had great support from the Haltech guys and has made good friends with them. He speaks with them regularly. Any time he has an issue, he calls them up and they discuss it and give support.

Richie also told me that in his experience, everything that MS does, Haltech does just as well, if not in a much more streamlined and intuitive fashion. This is why he gives a 30% tuning discount when tuning on the Haltech. Because of the fantastic deal he gets on the ECU's, and the discount, it is actually more economical for me to get my car tuned with the Haltech.

Richie's a real cool dude, so I'll be sure to post in progress photos/updates during the install and tune. And dyno snaps as well of course. I'm looking forward to adding to the community be documenting the full "Haltech experience".

 

Just a friend with an fm2 and a haltech 1000-something.
The software looks a lot more intuitive.
Though he would have bought an MS had he known about it at the time (2x the price)
