Talking New Member, Old Car

Howdy,

New member from AZ, but my new-to-me Turbo NA is an old-timer here! Looking forward to giving it some love, a few more upgrades, and then it's off to the track!
My headlight relay is mad. :(

Yoo! Welcome, the car looks clean!

You hinted that this car has some history here, who was the PO?

The PO was Sean from this board, aka the "S" in SADfab!
Here's his build thread for the car: https://www.miataturbo.net/build-thr...ispreloading=1

I do NOT have Sean's fabrication skills; I'm more of a "throw a 2x4 at it" kind of guy. I did manage to put together an additional brace for the heatshield using some random bits of hardware I had lying around, though, since it was rattling and made it sound like something important was going to drop off.

Added a heatshield bracket

Added a quick-connect for an "ok to use on lithium batteries" charger since the car won't get used for a stretch once Phoenix turns into a Molten Hellscape in a few months.

Turns out my neighbor has a tire shop! Off comes the 10 year old rubber. Literally 10 years old, complete with cracks, no grip, interesting shuddering at highway speeds...you name it. On go a set of 225/45R-15 Kumho Ecsta V730 SL tires from Tire Rack. So, SO much better now. I'll get a stickier set next time but these will be fine for learning the car. They don't give trophies for track days anyway.
Time for new shoes!

Looking good with the new rubber! Now to fix that paint. And switch to bigger brakes. And lower the seat. And start on the Aero stuff. And a zillion other things.
What a cutie!

Hey, cool! I was wondering if it was hi_im_sean of SadFab fame when you mentioned the name Sean. I've got some SadFab parts on my car as well, those MR2 rear hubs have been great to me.

The car looks in good shape, enjoy it, and keep us posted on your adventures with it!

Thanks! I'm feeling really lucky that I happened across Sean's old car. His fabrication skills are flat-out Amazing, and his work is Stellar! I've been going through the car and just going, "Damn! The workmanship is So Good!!!" The car has been sitting for a while so it needs some basic maintenance, but build-wise it's Fantastic.
