Default New NB on the board...:noob:

Hey guys, my name is Josh and I'm from Searcy, AR. I just bought a black 99 soft top w/ Nardi. It's my first MX5, and hopefully the last car I'll be buyin for a while. I'm not going to bother with pictures, because it's bone stock and the top is shot. The only mod is a Sony CD deck.

Right out of the gate I'm going to put a feeler out and see if anyone's got a softtop or hardtop around $400-500 shipped to Jackson,TN that they could part with. If so, please PM me asap. Thanks.

Good luck finding a hardtop for 400-500 period let alone shipped, but you should be able to find a DECENT soft top for that money. Why is it being shipped to TN if you are in AR, just out of curiosity...

Other than that welcome and dont forget ot search before asking any questions, the official newb greeter will chime in shortly i am sure

i didn't figure i'd get much, but i'm getting married and dont' have much jack right now. as far as the AR-TN thing is concerned, I'm an intern in Jackson and will be here until the first week in August. I'd hop all over the classifieds, but there's a 10-post limit to do that, so here's #2.

if i buy one with the frame included, how tough is it to install a soft top? I've done some minor body stuff (fog lights, hood replacement, lip install, etc.)

Piece of cake if it's on the frame. In simplistic terms, four bolts to hold the frame to the car and 10-12 nuts attach the top/rain rail inside the car.

There is a detailed writeup on miata.net in the garage section. I used it to replace the soft top complete on my old 90 with an economy no-zip window from Daveshouze.

Here is the section I was referencing: http://www.miata.net/garage/garagetops.html

If you don't mind doing the complete replacement labor, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-04...spagenameZWDVW $365.00 for a new top.

It took me about 6 hours on the first one that I ever did. That included drilling the rivets and reusing the rain rail.

Welcome. Yeah planetmiata is legit but you can get soft tops from other sources.

Since you need to make some more posts, go right ahead and start asking questions

Now; pics or ban!

I got a Robbins convertible top w/ out the frame for $175 shipped off ebay. It was kind of a pain to put the top on the frame, but putting the frame on or taking it off is simple.
