Newb Intro ( turbo miata )
Hey guys welcome to my 1st post about my new little miata project
At the start of the year my mate took me for a drive in his turbo 91 miata with 200rwhp 1.6 turbo, I was absolutely hooked in how well it cornered and how happy it was to take abuse i just had to build one. but 1st i had to fit in one im 6'3 and 220 pounds.
I searched for about 8 months finally landing on something i really liked as rough as it was i could see the potential in it.
5 months ago i brought a white NA 92 model with extractors, cold air induction and a 1.8l 4.3:1 torson diff. it was fitted with a bride low max seat and deep dish steering wheel so surprisingly i have heaps of room, the soft top has been removed and it came with a hardtop so even more head room.
Its been a ball of fun learning how hard you can drive it, now that i can hold it flat stick through our mountain range its time to get more power. origionally i was going to turbo the 1.6 big nose crank engine ( i brought this particular car for that reason ) but after lots of research and seeing the after market support for more benefits to the 1.8L engine swap i decided.
So this month it began im planing a 3 stage build ( not that ever actually ends ) but this is the plan anyway.
About 2 weeks ago i brought and currently have installed:
NB8A engine
NB 6 speed
Exedy tuff sports HD clutch
changed the rear diff for 3.9:1 torson 2
Nitro Dann stainless twistmount manifold and full 3" exhaust throughout with a highflow cat
Garrett GTX2860R
Megasquirt pnp2 for na6 loom ( though gotta chop harness to suit 1.8 engine)
stealthy black FMIC and turbosmart BOV
50mm alloy radiator
coolant reroute
Rx8 yellow injectors
Toyota cops kit
So that's it for stage one to get it up and running im sure more will change within the month.
( stage 2 handling ) This will start after January/Feb
6UL in 15x9 wrapped in 225/45r15 hankook RS3's
Newer harder coilovers, chassis bracing, under fender bracing, bigger brakes, proper roll bar,
(Stage 3 mid next year)
change fuel setup for....
E85 FORGE BUILD with a goal of 400RWHP
Anyway when i figure out how to load pic's ill start them coming.
