Default Noob to the boost scene.

Im a noob to the miata boost scene for the most part. Plenty of friends of mine have DSM's and Boosted 240's and what not but ive been out of it because 1 i knew i needed to learn before jumping into it, 2 because i didnt know what i need to start with for a good "Learner Kit".

ive got a 95M
120k miles.
Simple bolt ons right now and mild head work.

Its a DD and after i get some things straightened out im planning to get into the autox world somewhat nothing real serious just for fun. Not really wanting to make more then 215-225 whp and no less then 170 whp.

Reliability/Driveability is KEYYYYYY!

So basically im asking you guys to maybe "steer" me in the right direction of what i should be researching to get? Options? Drawbacks? Advantages?

You need to decide if you want to buy a kit or build a DIY kit. If you have the skills, desire to learn, etc, you can probably build a DIY kit that will get you to your goals reliably for less than the cost of a kit. Begi kits are all the rage if your looking for a kit. Search and read a lot and your options will show themselves.

How much of a difference are we talking price with DIY vs. Kit?

Sort of depends. You could build a 200whp and spend just as much as you would on a kit to get you there. It depends what's important to you, and if safety, flexibility, upgradability, and bells and whistles are important. If you want 200whp and never any more no matter what, you can build a DIY kit for I dunno what. But if you want a 200whp kit that has the potential to go further, or much further, you'll spend more doing some things right the first time. Here, proper engine management, megasquirt, (redundancy) is popular. Most do this so EMS is out of the way. This gives you a lot of power to put a safe powerful tune and has endless potential.

Explain your goals and future goals more, as well as your want/ability to fab things.

Id really like to buy a kit to a degree to eliminate the hassle of having to make sure i got everything covered and if i dont where i need to get it at.
i really dont want to make more then 225whp ever really. That is just a number id like to call a sweet spot and dont want to go past it really. not really looking for a whole lot of upgrade ability after that.

BEGI-S kit with megasquirt and some sort of intercooler setup for a daily 200hp with the 2554 or 2560(better)
