Noob reporting in! :D
hi everyone i just purchased a 1990 mazda miata and im absolutely in love with it! lookin for the best advice i can get on it
lookin to make it my drift/ daily LMK whats good out there and many good suggestions :noob: |
Im assuming you want to turbo it.
Theres lots of good info on this site, do some searching and read the stickies. Post some pics |
Best advice you can get: Don't drift it.
Welcome to the forums. |
Nope...he's opposed to turbocharging because it "hurts" the car...
Welcome anyways. |
*facepalm*
Yah, boost is soooo mean to the car. Especially since the engine was designed, by mazda, to be turbocharged... |
actually i want to build the 1600cc all motor itb for drift comp first
not sure what power the motor can produce turbo'd then maybe swap :naughty: thanks ill keep a good eye out also lookin for a cage for it what wont interfere with soft top or hard top any suggestions? also a good and affordable suspension kit |

Unless you just have something against torque. |

ITBs ~100 hp
Stupi-charger ~140 hp Turbo ~230+ hp The choice is obvious imo |
also, not matter what you do, youre going to have to replace the rear differential, it will break.

weber carbs.

Dont take that as advice that yours will hold out for whatever is that you have in mind. |

Common swap is the 1.8 Torsen from 94+ cars. The 1.6 diff has been recorded to fail at stock power, and some have also been recorded to hold twice stock power :dunno:

so stocky no good at all? replace asap? BTW put your location under you SN, there might be locals willing to help you and guide you to stay out of drifting :giggle: |

Stock 1.6, open or vlsd, yes. Make sure to check what type of differencial (Open or Torsen) the 94 youre looking at has. You dont want to pay Torsen coin for an open diff.
BTW put your location under you SN, there might be locals willing to help you and guide you to stay out of drifting :giggle: i thinki have a buddy that can help thanks for everything and i hear the diff off a rx7 works too? :dunno: how to know if its torsen vlsd or not will be a problem :[ |

Your only consern is whether is open or LSD (Torsen), VLSD is only found on 1.6

This swap unfortunately does not fit inside your 1.6L 6" housing, and the later housings don't mate to your driveshaft or halfshafts either. The 7" swap is all bolt-in, but requires the carrier, pumpkin, driveshaft and halfshafts to work. The carrier bolts in at the same points as the 1.6L unit, and the halfshafts will fit into your old wheel hubs. Goind rate for 7" open differential complete swap is ~$450. TorSen LSDs usually go for several hundred more. See the FAQs for info on turning a 7" open into an LSD using the RX7 clutch pack. |

im suprised nobody did this yet.

if you're looking at itb's, contact fuji racing. but im telling you this isnt a hachi roku. these cars are better with turbo setups imo.

the possibilities are endless with boost...

if not, people have swapped 1.8's, sr20's, bp-t's, rb25's, and various v8's. I myself would go with a 1jz or a vh45de v8 since it hasnt been done yet and my friends all fab.

any suggestions? they will tell you which top you can use, or if they are fit for both tops.

you need club roadster for drift info. nobody here likes drifting. matter of fact im suprised nobody has flamed you yet on liking to drift. if you're looking at itb's, contact fuji racing. but im telling you this isnt a hachi roku. these cars are better with turbo setups imo. ask and you shall recieve. this IS miata turbo. we have many members with t25 size turbos from 140-180hp. some have t28 turbos. from 180hp+ the possibilities are endless with boost... Sean who is a member on this forum is working on a 2jz swap that seems very affordable. if you can fab, you're golden. check it out sometime. use the search button. if not, people have swapped 1.8's, sr20's, bp-t's, rb25's, and various v8's. I myself would go with a 1jz or a vh45de v8 since it hasnt been done yet and my friends all fab. best bet is the hard dog rollcages. you can buy these at flyin miata i think or at ravenwingperformance.net they will tell you which top you can use, or if they are fit for both tops. cheapest coilovers available are the Raceland coilovers. i have a set. you can buy them for 300 bucks at racelandus.com thanks man ill take a look see cuz the top on the miata is gone to shit (damn plastic) besides egay im gonna have to junkyard a new top if i cant find a decent hard top. and i know that miatas have that 50-50 power to weight ratio so they have been able to get sideways and its just a here and their car for now till i buy a nb or a nother daily then build the miata for drift very helpful everyone thanks :D |
bump for my 1.8! :]
|
Do a 2JZ swap with an SC300 trans, RX-7 rear, 2002 miata one piece axles, and a 65mm turbo and you will have a drift nasty miata no matter what you do. At least that is what I expect to happen. LOL
|
if the miata had a 50-50 power to weight ratio i believe that means your miata is putting out something like 1000 hp. lol. i believe you meant weight distribution, but if you do have a 1000 hp miata please post some vids!
