Default obligatory noob intro; will cause flame.

Hi all, my name is Andy and I’m a 32 year old desk jockey. I’d like to start off with a big, ‘thank you!’ as I’ve been lurking in this forum and absorbing information for the last 2 years without signing up.
I bought my red 96 Miata a little over 2 years ago and have been thoroughly enjoying the car. It was purchased with the intent of being a forced induction project car from the start, and a way to feed my passion of wrenching on cars. My goal is to have a car that CAN be a daily if needed, but is mostly something to have fun with and properly dispose of that pesky savings.

I’ve done a few projects already, but nothing major. Put in a roll bar (Hard Dog X brace), shifter rebuild, radiator, water pump and timing belt... the usual items. I’ve been planning my build in detail for a few months, and am very excited to have started the first phase. I’m working with a Miata specific builder to have an engine built. I’m planning to run on the stock ECU while I save for the MS3pro, figure out how that fancy stuff works while I save some more, and then finally go FI.

Heres the part where I invite the flames...
Im going to do a Rotrex build!!!
Now, I know how a lot of you feel about SC vs turbo, and we can have that discussion later. For now, I’m excited to keep learning, and keeping enjoying this little roadster.

Clean looking car minus that clear coat failing.

I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors.

Thanks! I felt lucky that I came across one that hadn't already been though hell and back from a structural standpoint, so I gave the peeling clear a pass when I picked it up. It gets worse every time I take the car out, so a paint job or wrap is in the future for sure.

Its okay my current miata, my 4th one, is a pile. But thats okay because i have 3x the value of the car in parts on it!
