Default oh god, another noob

Was directed here by my instructor at WMHM. Finally got around to checking it out and was pleasantly surprised to see people that weren't obsessed with 0 offset wheels.

The car is a 1993 Miata A package w/ ~180k that lived its entire life in Socal until August of 2009. Only modification when I got it was a Hard Dog Duece rollbar (not a fan but it passes tech). Ebay listing pictures:

Since then I've added:
-Low mile engine (a 93 Miata with a short nose crank and wobbling pulley? Go figure)
-Hardtop off my 90 parts car
-Eibach sway bars front/rear
-ebay steering wheel to replace the torn up stock one.
-Civic HX wheels with 195/14 Azenis (kind of disappointed they are black but I couldn't argue with the price)
-Advanced Autosports vent window
-Hawk HP+ front pads, Hawk HPS rear. Autozone lifetime warranty front rotors.

More up to date pictures

Long term plans? No idea outside of have fun with it. I want to do some aerodynamic/suspension stuff before next season but beyond that I'm open. I need to learn how to drive more than I need power at this point.

Yup it is Gingerman. WMHM has been running a yearly event there for the last 10yrs. Best track event of the season

njn63, you probably saw me/miata there (red/black flares/gigantic interfooler). And unless someone swapped motors... a 93 would never have a short nose... but the longnose can also (if done improperly) fail like a short nose... i think?

I have a turbo kit for a 1.6l that might interest you... Heck... want to go vmount?

Who was your instructor btw? I definitely remember the car and I know your screen name from local chicago/midwest boards.

The 3-strip track is easy to recognize, I've only ever been there once. Those tarred grooves are a bitch on corner entry and exit on a sport bike. Let's just say I've gotten close and personal with the asphault in turn 2. I saw pics of them repaving it, but did they do the whole track, or just the turn 10 extension?

Welcome aboard! Btw, 93 engines DO NOT have a short nose crank. If it's wobbly it can easily be fixed. Check the m.net garage for instruction.

Probably never haha. I have other ideas for making power but I don't see them happening for a year or so (and I'll change my mind 100 times before then anyways).

Yep. I think you posted it on honda-tech a while back because I recognized it at WMHM.

It was definitely swapped. I didn't even check until I saw the pulley was wobbling because I just assumed it was the stock engine.

That torsen rear end is more tempting than anything right now. Is that out of a 5 or 6 speed?

I believe it was Chris? I'm terrible with names but he had the red turbo 1.6L car over by you.

Just the turn 10 extension.

I read that before pulling it and was too scared of having it break later on (especially considering I bought the car with the intent of tracking it).

Yup, it was in the off topic miata thread a few times.

Bummer. Whats the repair plan? It might still be saveable...

It was a 5spd 2001. It should be out of the car next week sometime if plans hold together.

The Lovefab buddy. Nice guy.

Oh, it's already done. I got a low mile engine from Eric Japan Engine in Chicago and replaced it in May.

Crap, I was really hoping you'd say 6 speed so I didn't want to buy it. I'll have to figure out the money end of it but I'll probably end up taking that off your hands.

Later is better than sooner for me though. It was on the winter to do list.

Yep, he didn't even yell at me for being a sissy and not pushing it earlier in the day.

Welcome.

You didn't mention anything beyond sway bars, but your car isn't sitting at stock height, what's your suspension setup?

As far as I know it's stock but I have suspected it might have springs on it. I know for sure the struts are as they have factory numbers on them but the springs have nothing to identify them.

This picture wasn't supposed to be of the springs, but it may help. The coils do look thicker than what I remember from other cars:

Car rides pretty soft imo... a little softer than my old CRX on Eibach Pro-Kit springs so if there is springs on it they are pretty low rate.

The struts aren't factory. I'm 100% sure of that.
