Default old wrencher never learns..

yea yea yea. I know, "why dont you just buy a new one?" Im going to be hearing that for the next year or so. Truth is I hate having skin on my knuckles and my neck not being sore. right?
Anyway here is my intro for those who care and for the others who's help ill be asking for in the future.
Ive spent a little time in the garage in the past. In college I had a couple of rx7s I really liked driving and because I was broke I had to fix them with the haynes manual or walk. good times!
After that i had a couple of late 80s dodge 2.2 turbos, shelby charger and daytona, had a blast rebuilding those and playing with the boost.
Now Ive matured, ha ha, moved to the country. I purchased a little 91 1.6 that a friend of mine had been keeping in his garage for years, to drive my 30 mile commute to work. I couldnt get over how much fun it was to drive the back roads in the little miata.
But alas after being left at a couple of stoplights by soccer moms in minivans my mind started wondering? Its a light car, a little power would make quite a difference.
So here I am and heres my plan. Im going to turn my 26 year old miata into a respectable sports machine. 1.6 to 1.8 turbo upgrade! I found a donor car on craigslist 97 running rough $600 delivered! decent body, 5-speed, a/c,p/w,p/m supposed to have 4.1 torsen.(to be determined)
First brakes, purchased new calipers, rotors and braided lines. to be installed this week.
Next up switching the a/c to the 134 system, r12 compressor on the 91 is shot. This should be fun.
Then the summer project will be suspension. purchased yellow konis, poly bushing kit, racing beat solid sway bar. Springs are yet to be determined, was planing on retaining stock ones because i dont want a really harsh ride. any suggestions?
Then comes the big fall/winter project! rebuild the 1.8 and add a turbo! this is where I'll be looking for all the advice i can get. As of right now Im thinking megasquirt and putting my own system together, I'm a long way from there and have lots of work to do. Time to head to garage so thanks in advance.
