First post here!
My names Brooke, 20, currently stationed in VA, and this is my pink unicorn. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1412932474 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1412932474 And this is the turbo kit I just picked up here at Up Garage, Uruma, Okinawa. GReddy TD04H with Mines Ecu. Install when I arrive back in the states. Cheers! https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1412932474 |
Welcome to the forum.
The picture link isn't working. Army, Navy, or Marines? You said you were from Ft. Eustis and in Okinawa. I didn't think there was any Army there so I figured you might be with the Navy or Marines. |
Army. I'm here (in Okinawa) on a 6 month mission. I work on army vessels.

You really are serious about going turbo, huh? https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1412940209 http://scontent-b.cdninstagram.com/h...49431825_n.jpg |

You used your real name. Google makes your world an open book.
The pics of your car were mostly far away and not really noteworthy, but the up close pic of a giant turbo tattoo was worth a laugh. You certainly meant to share it with the world by putting it all over social media, and so it was. |
This is off to a good start lol
Welcome to the site! |
I'm a little disappointed that the owner of this pink car is actually a girl.
|
your headlights are broken.
|
Whoa.
|
On a 0-10 scale of difficulty, finding pictures of your right thigh was roughly a 1.
Welcome. |
What's the details on the Mine's ECU?
|
Ditch the manifold and downpipe at your earliest convenience. The turbo itself is pretty good but the other parts will crack without much effort.
I'm also curious about the Mine's ECU. I had one on one of my Skylines while I was living in Fukuoka, or at least I think I did. It had the Mine's logo on it, but for all I know it was simply a sticker. I didn't install it nor mess with it so I have no idea if it was a good part or failaids. |

Mines B63H, haven't been able to find much "legitimate" information on it. Anyone else have any ideas? |
It's a stock ECU? Very confused.
|
Probably just a chipped 1.6 ECU that might handle like.... 5psi if you're lucky.
You can also get HKS PFC FCON setups for that car. |

I guess it is only a greddy, though. |
Found some info from Mines Motor Sports:
"Mine's will always strive for perfection when tuning the main ECU" "The only solution is to take the main computer and tune it. This is what we consider to be "Perfect"." |

When you get back stateside, open that bad boy up, remove the ZIF chip, send it to me. I wanna copy it and see if i can figure out what's been manipulated. |

I google translated some of their other stuff. It resulted in some pretty great Engrish:

I would think without knowing what injectors that ECU is set up for it would be pretty useless. I guess you could buy a bunch of different sizes and plug them in until it runs decently but it would probably be cheaper just to get an MS at that point.

Meh, we all make mistakes. I paid way too much for my POS. You're in the right place for good info though.
|
Just bring it back to the states and post in the CR classifieds as JDM YO!!!! Double your money.

I always laugh so hard when people tell me that they bought crap parts, that will run like crap, and make their car crappy, BUT FOR A KILLER DEAL!! cause, you know, the low price will make your car run right and not blow up |
I have a Sebring MSD box and FMU in my garage but will not be installing them on my car. I got the MSD box new for free when I bought some injectors and the FMU was $15. The cost of a rebuild is slightly higher than just waiting for a used Megasquirt or the time to build one.
That being said the old way although no where near as good as what we have now did work. I could run that FMU and MSD box and probably have no issues at under 8 psi. Barbie if you want to run your MINES ECU do it gurl. Keep us posted how it turns out. It may be fine? |

Perfect advice.
DO IT GURLL And if its not fine, and if she splooges her motor all over the road, its all good gurllll, it happens. Because everyone who ran a mines ecu splooged their motor? The control available now is much safer and better but the old stuff still works in richer lower boost applications. |
It's a stock ecu with a sticker...

The control available now is much safer and better but the old stuff still works in richer lower boost applications. Better yet - show me what mines actually did with the ecu, how they documented and tested it, and what the results/findings were. If you can find me anything more than some retarded statement somewhere saying "GUD ECU, VERY NIIIICE, MUCH POWER, SO FAST" I'll be impressed. ....gurlll |
Without knowing what the ECU has done to it or what it's setup for I'd avoid putting it in the car. Did you buy the parts from someone who had previously used them?
|

It'll be modified. But without the data as to exactly WHAT they did, it's largely useless. |
Barbie you bought the ECU and Greddy turbo crap together right I'd ignore the noise and run it. Is it Megasquirt and a garrett turbo no but it will be better than stock
Gurl |
So how many kpa does the stock ECU's MAP sensor go up to?

Mines was kind of big in Japan with the Toyota/Nissan guys. I am a Nissan guy and this is not the first time I have heard about them. This is the first time I have heard about them on a Mazda. Mines charged something like $2000 in the 90's to burn a custom tune for your car my guess is if she bought this turbo kit off a 90's Miata that Mines tuned it will not give her any problems. Its not going to be as quick as something she can put together around a MSPNP for $2000-$2500 but it will be better than stock.
I'm asking really simple and easy questions, and none of you can answer them. Because none of you really even know. All you're doing is regurgitating misinformation and passing it on. My friend toasted his 2JZ motor on a Mines ecu cause he thought "Mines, sounds legit GURLLL" Worst kind of people. You are the kind of people that lead n00bs to do stupid things and break things, and then dip out and say "well, it happens" when they come back and say they've toasted their motor. |
I'm serious about this. Sell that ecu over at CR and use the money to buy something you know will work and that we can help you with.
|
Anybody who runs that ECU is out of their Mines...
GurLLL. |
