Default time to collect some kitty

Hey folks,

Mazda is fun and always has been.
Coming from. A '79 RX7 and then a '85 it was only natural I wanted a Miata! My 97 was a learning experience to say the least.

Full suspension rebuild- coil overs, all bushings, sway bar, tires and wheels. Then taking care of the cooling with a m-tune reroute, all new rubber hoses under the hood, new radiator.
Refreshed the shifter, put a ball **** on it, FM fly wheel and clutch, speedometer cable. Inside the car changing gauge faces, installed a start button (thanks Adam for the write up) Stripping out the AC under the dash and engine bay and putting in the duct....even cutting the seat foam cause why not?
It was a fun year and then my motor gave up the ghost, or more precisely I was stupid and didn't do a compression check when I bought it. I never really romped on the car and I didn't change the little water hose on the intake side so when it went out after 19 years the little motor got hot.

All that learning curve I could have taken in stride and said F-it and keep going, but then I did what might have been the stupidest thing a Miata owner could do- I BOUGHT A RE MANUFACTURED MOTOR!
God dammit worst money I ever spent. Installed it and it had baffle strikes and metal in the oil and leaked oil at the rear main, took it out and sent it back to so cal, they sent me the same motor saying they fixed it. Being in such a Miata fever I put it back in the car. It ran rough at idle and I never quite got it to smooth out. It threw the cl300 now and then and started leaking at the rear main again but hey I had my car back. Then one morning in March it didn't run so good as I got on the freeway, then it flat out ran like **** and I lost power. #4 cylinder went tick tick tick all day long. I not going to say I was happy with the 5000 miles I got out of the motor. The company wouldn't take the motor back to fix it, they said they would pay for parts only when I called about the main seal, after the ticking I still haven't called them- thus far their services had not quite been AAA if you know what I mean.

So I'm sitting on a car for the last months busy as hell working 60's - well I need my car back- driving a Chevy Tahoe is killing my soul- so I back at it. I don't know what I'm going to do with the re man. I am going to see if my old head is warped and deck it and put the og motor back together. And now I'm here to stop lurking and really start digging into turbocharging and motor build. So get ready for old million times over answered questions to be clarified one last time ( really I'll try not to) and for yet another t25 to be put in a Miata only to be put up for sale on the classifieds cause I suddenly need more power! And really you guys know and have distilled a bunch of info and knowledge and I look forward to being able to draw on that and hear any advice you folks got to give.
