Yes, and the posts need to be in a particular section - Meet and Greet. Start an introduction thread.

drewcook 04-04-2014 05:11 PM

lol, explains 90 percent of normal forums

Smithy79 04-22-2014 12:50 PM

Hi All, I'm a Noob too!!

I'm from Sydney, Australia. I have a 1999 Turbo which I'll post up pics soon.

Cheers,

Dumbass

thenuge26 04-22-2014 03:52 PM

Damn this thread is perfect for pointing out the idiot noobs who don't read before posting. You guys should set up a bot to instaban people who post in this thread with less than 10 posts, it'll just save you from manually doing it in the future.

Dayage 04-23-2014 08:59 PM

Definitely need to read prior threads before posting.

thenuge26 04-24-2014 09:47 AM

I guess we better make it 20 posts just to be safe...

robertw 05-15-2014 09:37 AM

I have a 96 miata, joined here to for all the turbo info. I'll refrain from posting much until I finish reading all the stickied faqs, unless something comes up in the classifieds that I may need.

Don't fall into that trap. You'll end up banned.

RedCarmel 05-15-2014 10:23 PM

Why not just lock this thread?

drewcook 06-09-2014 03:10 PM

lol, thats pretty much how it is. and on the miata Facebook page too.at least there are the few that have really good advice and post useful Diy's. 50% are random threads

Hello All! This is my first post. I just picked up a '90 classic red with 290k Kms... that's like 180k miles... and she runs like a top. I did a few maintenance items but overall it's just a whole bunch of fun. I did an autocross last weekend and both myself and my Dad entered in the Miata.

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1405796417

For autocross the power was fine I'm itching to get on a road course and I want moar powa! In any case, it's good to find this forum no matter what my aspirations are. (See what I did there? lawlz)

Thanks

Monk 07-19-2014 07:34 PM

Great first post James! Seriously. Unfortunately you put it in the worst possible spot. Go back and read this thread from the beginning, put your palm squarely in your face, then read the forum rules and try again.

Okay that was a fail. But the thread title made it seem like a good spot to say "Hi." I even read the final page and it seemed like that's what people were up to... anyways, thanks for the heads up. :noob:

Hello everyone. My name is Tom and this is my first post. I bought a 97 Miata M in May and having a lot of fun with the car. It had Koni's on it when I bought it and since then I have added FM springs & sway bars and Fat Cat bump stops. The change in cornering is amazing.

We went to FM Summer Camp. It was my first time on a track and I had a blast!
I attached a couple of pictures.

jmyr 09-16-2014 10:39 AM

Hey I'm new to this forum but I'm sure like everyone else I'm planning on adding boost to my life. This is my 2nd miata now, first one was supercharged and went poof a week after I bought it P:-/ but it was cheap and fun enough to make we want another so here I am now. Will post some pictures at another time

concealer404 09-16-2014 10:41 AM

So good.

Flyinglizard45 09-20-2014 01:59 AM

I love newb posts!

ruckus1027 09-20-2014 03:27 AM

....So, do stickers really give me 2hp when i put them on my car?

...bump

guys??

Flyinglizard45 09-20-2014 03:28 AM

Of course they do! thats why I have 20, no need for a turbo anymore

ruckus1027 09-21-2014 05:17 PM

Ah what? Why did I get negative props and had my two posts combined?

I was under the impression, and correct me if I'm wrong, that this thread was to throw humor at a lot of "noob" posts? I felt that my two separate posts accomplished just that. [usually a ridiculous comment, hence the stickers = hp post, then usually followed by a bump shortly after]

sixshooter 09-22-2014 12:58 PM

I was feeling a little cranky.

ruckus1027 09-22-2014 01:43 PM

I see. So no real reason directly correlated to my post and or rules; just an arbitrary feeling in true relativistic fashion?

Is this common culture in this forum or just specific to this thread?

(just in case, I don't mean any hostility in this post, just trying to get a feel for common culture of the forum. Since, tone and all cannot be heard just by reading and could potentially lead to misunderstandings, figured I should clarify)

sixshooter 09-22-2014 02:21 PM

It is common for noobs to make useless posts to get over the 10 or 15 post minimum limits for utilizing certain forum functions. As moderators or admins on the site we tend to watch for people with under 15 posts making posts in rapid succession for that reason. I combined your posts to shortchange your post count by one and then watched to see if any "junk" posts followed closely afterward. They didn't and I moved on. We have a bad problem with junk posts for people who want to use the forum but not contribute to or really become active in the forum. It's a real PITA.

What makes it worse is most of the posts in this thread are from noobs who haven't actually read or understood the purpose of the thread, so I was a bit more likely to watch you after you posted here. Nothing personal. And I did not negative prop you. That was someone else. But I did reverse it.

Sometimes if we don't know you well, we don't know if you get the joke or you are the joke.

ruckus1027 09-22-2014 11:28 PM

Well I completely understand the epidemic of junk posts and trying to control it. I guess I was more interested about the negative props, and it looks like I got more now; evidently for trying to stand up for what is right. LOL this is amusing.

Oh well.

I have followed this thread since joining here a few months ago. I may be a noob here but I am not a noob to car forums or many of the subjects on these forums. I am also proud to be a contributing member of several car communities that are welcoming, helpful and all around cool.
This thread may have started out light heartedly and had a purpose but now it is in poor taste and does not foster the sense of a welcoming community. It actually turned me away from coming here more often.
Let's consider replacing it with a traditional introduce yourself thread. Only in this spirit will miataturbo.net and this community reach it's full potential.

DonPlatt 11-06-2014 03:18 PM

trying to get in my initial posts so I can do some business. I understand why system managers want you to do this.. It immerses the person into the web s ite and causes you to pay attention to whats going on.....

Trying to compare a m45 sebring sc to a m62 system. I thought that an m62 kit was for a 99 or above, the m45 for the 1.8 94-97

No, we do this so it can be clear that you actually have something to offer to the community and not just be a suckhole that spams their way to the requisite posts in order to post your shit for sale.

... in the most hilariously incorrect place to spam those posts on the entire forum.

Good job!

tachyon66654 11-07-2014 02:39 AM

Sup. I don't own a Miata yet, but I will soon! It's in my system and it won't settle until I have it.

Thanks for having me.

meh.........I'm ok with them posting in here. As long as all of it is kept in one thread, doesn't bother me. It's when they statrt bumping tons of threads and spamming up the place that gets annoying.

Class

Hey, Sam. I just signed up myself primarily out of curiosity of what the experience would be like. I read your meet and greet intro and it was perfectly fine. Now as far as the response you got from from what is suppose to be representatives of the forum has no class at all. What happened to respect that was spoken of in the "rules" . Then they attempt to justify themselves with claiming you have a problem and need to grow balls? That's b.s. brother. You and I can both do a hell of alot better than that. This forum is obviously garbage with low class people border line human. They won't like my comment and I really don't care after seeing the very first responce you got. There are to many other forums out there that will treat you right to waste your time with this. It gives you an idea of what future comments will be and the integrity of those in the forum. I highly recommend you find someplace else to go, I will.

I'm so glad you joined to post this! I have seen the light, felt your revelatory idea, and have decided to CHANGE MY WAYS. In fact, no previous noob has ever articulated their point quite so eloquently. Nobody has ever suggested we gain class.

If you're here for someone else to stroke your dick then you're in the wrong place.

:dealwithit:

... or maybe you're in exactly the right place. Depends on if you're looking for figurative or literal stroking.

Hi Everyone including Sam my name is Mike and this is my 118th post. I used to have some wire wheels but after the great support on here I got a set of Watanabe instead and swapped out my interior for a custom job in red leather. It's much faster at the track now plus I think I'm up to 7psi with my M45. I even got the matching lug nuts with the little symbol on the end and the spinning taper section. Hi my names Joe and I'm a Miataholic. I've have my 2001 SE since Nov. of 2003 when it had 25k on it. I hard street drive and some autocross. Mostly just suspension mods. I'm interested in slight gains in power, maybe around 5-6 lbs of boost. Minimal electronic control. I want to use stock ECU. After 12 years it needs a little kick in the ass. Nobody other me and my clubmates have done any work on the car for the last 7 years so I know it pretty well. I'll be trolling here for info on what kind of setup I'm actually looking for.
