I was trying to say it is ok in some circumstances and I do eat it, but I don't understand the obsessive love that some people give it and say they have to have it on everything. |
Sriracha is "meh" at best. It's not hot, and needs to be used in huge quantities in order to appreciably raise the "heat" level of foods.
It also doesn't taste like much. Just... tastes like mild heat. No real flavor. At least Frank's RedHot tastes like.... salt. |
You guys are giving me such a hard-on talking about sauces like this.

The only thing more hipster than loving sriracha sauce is claiming not to get the big deal over sriracha sauce.
"I know a bunch of way better hot sauces, but you've probably never heard of them, they're really obscure." |

(BIG fan of the green kind, but that obviously doesn't gel with everything) Tabasco = hipster? :giggle: If we're going to get a little more hipster, i'm a big fan of this shit. Basic bitches need not apply. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1370621163 |

Weaksauce.
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1370624231 "The Merciless Peppers of Quetzalacatenango … grown deep in the jungle primeval by the inmates of a Guatemalan insane asylum." (That episode had some of the best animation ever featured on a primetime TV show, bar none.) Also, since we were talking about fish earlier, apparently this is actually a real thing: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1370624231 |

I like trying random obscure hotsauces to find the perfect one. For instance, no idea what this is actually (likely re-branded something else), but damn shit was gooood.

More real things:
Salmon-flavored Vodka from the Alaska Distillery: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1370629386 And, of course, Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout: brewed with real testicles: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1370629386 What started out as an April Fool's Day joke video by Denver's Wynkoop Brewing Company has now become reality. Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout is indeed brewed with actual bull testicles - quite a lot of them actually. This is the first of the brewery's "Even Smaller Batch Series" beers to be canned and was done so by hand. Cans were sold, appropriately enough, in packs of two. From the Wynkoop site: "A meaty foreign-style stout, Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout is made with Colorado base malts, roasted barley, seven specialty malts, Styrian Goldings hops, and 25 pounds of freshly sliced and roasted bull testicles. Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout is an assertive, viscous stout with a rich brown/black color, a luscious mouthfeel and deep flavors of chocolate, espresso and nuts. The beer sports a savory, umami-like note and a roasty dry finish." |
I would drink THE SHIT out of the salmon vodka. Liquid "lox" that gets me hammered? Where do i sign?

the thought of trout schnapps is making me fucking gag. ugh gross.

I guess it's safe to assume that Vortx is not coming back for advice. :giggle:
Also, Bulliards. It kicks the ever living dog shit out of any other "Louisiana" type hot sauces. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1370630934 |
I don't see why he wouldn't, this is the best noob thread I've ever seen!

best eggplant ever:
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1370632078 Sadly it is only available in Barthelona at Lolita Taperia (formerly owned by Albert Adria, brother to the famous Ferran Adria), but fuuuuuuuuuuu it was the best and only eggplant I'd ever consider to be food. Lolita Tapería, The best tapas bar in Barcelona I swear to god I could sit there and eat everything they made. If you're ever in Barthelona, it is a must-go. Look at the menu. Seriously, GO LOOK AT IT. |
