At risk of annoying people I have some basic questions about the instalation of mega squirt PNP to my '89 Eunos Roadster.

I've read though all sorts of threads but still have questions.

Is an '89 JDM Eunos Roadster w/manual tranny the same as a 1990-1993 USDM Mazda Miata, w/manual tranny?


What does the MSPNP system connect in to? I've read its a simple 20 minutes to install it on the car so I'm assuming it replaces and then connects to the original ECUs wiring? Or does it come complete with a new basic loom or am I completely off the mark?

I assume, being theres no gauge with the kit, its simply there for the MS ECU to measure and then suitably adjust the tune rather than just tell the driver the engines AFR? If thats right then is it compulsary over the stock O2 sensor, or can the MS read from the stock sensor?


Do I need knock detection? I know how it kills engines, but if the cars tuned on a dyno by someone competant with Mega Squirt does that negate the need for a knock sensor?

It will plug into the connectors that normally go to the stock ecu. I believe the only thing you'll have to add is a MAP line.

MS cannot really do much with the stock o2 sensor as it is a narrowband sensor. What that means is that it's really only useful around 14.7 a/f. When tuning counts, you want to be accurate for a broader range of a/f's which is what the LC1 offers.

Cheers for guys. That MTX-L makes more sense than the LC1

What about knock detection though? Is a keen ear good enough?
