Im going to be doing a 1.8 swap into my 90 which is equipped with a mspnp90-03 i was wondering if any changes would be needed to be made in order to have a successful install. Other than calibrating the tps. setting the req fuel for 460's and setting the timing.

Anything i missed? Anything someone who searches and finds this should know?

 

I'm in the same boat. You missed a few things:

Couple of other things may need to be modified if you want your setup to be close to stock driveability.

Your going to need to run wires and modify your MS to read the VTPS. Your 1.6L wiring harness and MS aren't setup for it. I think DIY has some sort of writeup or info on what needs to be done. Involves a jumper or something. I have a DIY MS so I'm not sure about the particulars.

Also the 1.8L idle control valve works the same as the 1.6L but has a different connector so you'll have to rewire that.

If you don't care about the VTPS which is really a luxury and not REALLY needed you could just get the FM TB adapter plate and slap on your 1.6L TP and idle valve leaving you with a simpler swap over. Basically tricking your MS into thinking you have a bored to 1.8L, 1.6L BP in there.

I on the other hand am leaving the 1.8L TB in place and ditching the idle valve seeing as I don't run AC or PS. I will run mapdot accel. until i get around to wiring the 1.8L VTPS but it is not on the top of my list seeing as I didn't have any issue using it on my 1.6L setup.

It's all up to you on what route and how complicated you want to make things...

 

Things i forgot to add:
I currently have a Vtps from an auto 1.6 on my 1.6 so the vtps mod is done and working.
On the new motor, there is a variable tps, 1.6 TB welded onto the 1.8 mani.

Is there anything else i have overlooked?
