Default 12v until 2500 rpm - weird idle issues.

Searched this and didn't find anything...

As the title says im only getting slightly less than 12v until i rev the engine up to around 2500 rpm, then ~14v, Any ideas beyond replacing the alternator?

I am having trouble getting the car to idle due to, I think, the larger variance in voltage. I'm running MS2 PNP so, as far as I can find, there is only the linear .144 ms/v adjustment.... the car runs great but stalls out at idle and coming to a stop

EDIT: I should add that the car has the flow force 670cc injectors 1.12 ms@ 13.2 and .144 ms/v, 4.0 req fuel

Its idling around 44 VE at about 14.0 afrs (when seeing 12v idles ok)

Tune attached, thanks for any help

Should I just lower the reqfuel number until it idles nicely at 60-65 VE ?

I'm assuming you're going off of the voltage reading in TS. Have you measured at the battery with a DMM as well?

FWIW I really doubt the issue you're having is a hardware problem. I think you have a tuning problem.

the car came with a volt meter, going off that. readings match those of the battery terminals measured with a multi meter pretty closely

lower req fuel to raise ve table? what is that supposed to accomplish?

I feel like you're just asking random stupid questions all over the place and don't even know where to start to help you.

People were saying the ev14's like bigger VE numbers. It seems like the numbers shouldn't really matter because the reqfuel scales the VE table but Im a bit new. I'm trying to get my car to Idle. It won't act consistently. My logger stopped working. The VE numbers are lower than expected. What should I do?

On throttle and under load it runs fine and at the right afrs.

On the stock injectors I had it running and idling smoothly.

did you get a special batch of FF injectors? they don't usually come 670cc
and the settings you posted that you're using doesn't look right either.
so start there.

670 is right off the card, and those are the settings posted on the FF site.

Are there better settings known?

I could get it to idle decently when the voltage was around 12v. Once the car is revved past 2.5k and the voltage foes to 14 it starts to act strangely at idle, but normal while driving

So no replies, just call me stupid after not reading my post correctly, then leave when you see I have an actual issue potentially?

Injector size and VE are unrelated. VE is a characteristic of the engine as a system, and is not related to fueling.

what year car is this?

Its a 1992. The only reason I wanted to change the VE is because there are multiple threads on here saying the ev14's like/need bigger ve #'s.

Do you think the voltage change can cause the idle issue?

Thanks

Steve

I always see lower voltages at idle with the early NA alternator. Getting this car to idle well with stable AFRs at or around stoich with MS2 and large injectors is challenging.

I come off the gas when slowing down and it just dies....what can I do in the tune to eliminate that?

All those threads is pretty much why I no longer try to provide support for this stuff in the forumverse.

for you, a quick and dirty approach is to use the proper req fuel, target 12.5 AFR in your idle cells, bracket the idle in both the load domain and the rpm domain, tune the ISC stepper parameters, and turn on idle advance. I prefer a squashed "Z" shape for my idle advance curve.

If anything I just said is foreign, use Google, not questions on this (or any) forum. Official MS documentation is way betyer than forum threads. Experiment, take notes, and draw your own conclusions.

Oh, properly setup the IAC, and in the short term, turn fuel cut on decel off

1 question, what do you mean by "bracket" the load and rpm cells
