36-2 with vvt - fumbling

2 Attachment(s)
OK, newbie here who is fumbling a little with the 36-2 setup.....
Spec - "94 engine with 36-2 FM wheel, VR sensor and VVT head with hall effect sensor. I can;t seem to get RPM sync - spent about 3 hours trying to tune the VR pots and am not sure they are doing much so wondering if I have something else wrong...Vehicle has been setup with MS3X. Currently on Miata 99-05 but also tried 36-2+2. I would really appreciate if some kind soul would take a look at my screen dump of my composite log and help me interpret which might be going on...

You need to use the 99_00 hybrid setup in there.

Thanks - I assume you mean spark the mode ? There is a "Miata 99-05" mode - I don't see a 99-00 Hybrid, Is that something I can download/update ?

The correct spark mode is Miata 36-2.
Miata 99-05 requires stock NB 4 tooth crank trigger.

Great, thanks ! - But...I don't have that mode available in my drop down....eeek ! Is there a way to import that ? I'm running Tuner Studio MS Lite v2.6.01

To be honest, you won't notice the 36-2 effect on a stock, well-running car.

I installed one on my own 2002, and I didn't notice any improvement in the way the car idles or accelerates. If I can't tell the difference, you probably won't either.

I did notice that the RPM signal in Tunerstudio updates way faster, this is to be expected of course. Free revving the engine, the tabs on the pulley are solid, but then again, they were also solid with the stock 4T wheel.

I noticed some minor differences in VVT control, but what you're pointing out is a strength of the MS3.

Steady state (like cruising or idling) I would expect no difference.

Theoretically, the higher tooth count wheel is more precise in transitional events (accel or deccel). Real world, I don't know if I could tell the difference either.
