Default 4 channel EGT with DIYAutotune MS2PNP

I’ve been wanting to install 4 EGT probes for a while now so that I can optimize fuel trims between cylinders, as well as optimize cruising fuel economy safely. The car itself is a turbocharged ‘99 with a MS2PNP ECU from DIYAutotune. I initially bought this ECU because I thought it was good enough for me, but I have come to realize I should’ve gotten an MS3.

But for now are there any solutions available for me without giving up the barometric correction, or knock detection? I’d like to keep knock for obvious reasons, barometric correction isn’t as big of a deal but I live in the mountains and it’s nice to have. Even then though, that’s only one input and I’d like to have one for each cylinder.

I’ve also read that the MS2 canbus is only capable of sending data not receiving it, effectively making it impossible to use for this application. Is all of this correct, or am I missing something or is my only option a gauge on the dash without data logging, or buy/build a MS3?

I see a “GPIO expansion board” on DIYAutotune’s website. Is this compatible with the MS2PNP and able to do what I need (4 generic 0-5v inputs)? also, recommendations for thermocouple controller/amplifiers would be appreciated, if any of them would work with MS2.

Sorry if any of this could be understood by reading the manuals. I did here and there, but this is largely over my head, but I’m willing to suffer through it to learn if someone could just help me get in the right direction.

So after further reading, the MS3 isn’t going to give me enough 0-5V inputs, I don’t think. As per MSExtras V3.57 Hardware manual on page 43 “For multiple channels of EGT, an external solution… is likely the best choice”. I could do one or two at a time using ADC6 or ADC7 and the AD595CQ but not 4. They recommend the CANEGT product, but it is currently out of stock except for through resellers, but it’s still an option.

With an MS3 the canbus functionality seems to be much greater than an MS2, so I’m still considering building my own MS3X and selling my ms2pnp. For 4 probes though I’ll have to use the canbus regardless though. Could someone who is more knowledgeable explain the difference between ms2 and ms3 canbus functionality? I was under the impression ms2 is much more limited, but can’t find “how” anywhere.

Should I be looking into the CANEGT from DIYAutotune, the GPIO kit, or other Canbus products? Should just go with whatever is cheapest, or is one going to be better/easier to use than the other? Megasquirts have their own canbus protocol so I can’t use any AEM or similar products, right?

does anybody want to share what they did for 4-channel EGT?

I have found the DIY staff to be extremely helpful. Have you contacted them with any of your questions?
