Default 99 miata starts but dies right away

Hey guys, Back again. Want to start a new topic on this one as I am able to get the car to start constantly but it will always die after a few seconds. Every once in a while i can get it to closed loop.

Info:

99 Miata running Reverant MS2E. Using analog aem wideband. I just upgraded the fuel injectors to 650CC flow force injectors. Nothing changed on the plugs or wires. Before upgrading the injectors, the car was running on 350CC injectors and it would run fine on stock ecu. I put the base map back on the MS2E which was setup for 650CC inejctors.

The composite log looks correct to me. The car will idle between 11-13 AFR right before it dies. I've attached a composite log, as well as a normal log. I tried so many different things, but nothing will allow the car to idle longer than 3-4 seconds.

Couple of questions:
1)Since the afr is between 11-13 when it does, I would guess I am getting enough fuel. Could anything be wrong with the fuel pump?
2) I cannot get the MS2E to do a spark test. I pulled the wire and plugs out and grounded them on the intake manifold. When I try to burn the test, I get a burn page 3 error. Should I even be attempting a spark test with stardard wires and plugs?
3) When the car dies, I notice the spark cut light turn on in tuner studio. Not sure if it is because the car just died? Or maybe a cause?
4) I have not set the base timing yet because I can't get it to idle long enough. Could this be the causing the car to die?
5) Is there anyone in Denver that might be able to help me out with this? I would be more than happy to compensate for their time.
6) Is it possible the firmware is corrupt and should i try to reflash it?
7) Also I notice the boost psi shows -3.5 when the engine isn't running. I assume that is because i live at 6000 ft.

I've attached the composite log, my tune and a normal log. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

did you change your deadtimes to suit the new injectors? With MS2 it's just the one fixed value that needs to be changed, along with the voltage compensation.
If your previous injectors were not EV14, your VE will need adjusting as the injector characteristics are drastically different.

Hi Funky. Thanks for the suggestion. I changed it per flowforce instructions. Also I adjusted the VE up quite a bit to match the injectors.

Hi guys. Had an experienced megasquirt user check out miata. He confirmed that the base tune was good for my setup. Like before the car starts, it idles, and idle is good. The AFR is 11-12 cold. Then again after about 3-4 seconds it dies. Right before it dies, I get a "fuel cut" and "spark cut" on the megasquirt. When that happens the car won't start again until it is turned completely off then back on. We can hear the fuel pump running and it runs for 2 seconds after the car dies. He confirmed the composite log is correct. We both looked at the regular log and cannot find out anything that is causing the fuel / spark cut.

I am posting the composite log. Could it be something with the megasquirt itself? I bought it from another user on here and he said it was never installed. We checked the jumper settings as well.

Boost Control - Enhanced (we tried it both ways and no difference.
Oil Pressure and Oil Temp jumpers are off.
Boot - Off
Fuel Pump setup for not running immobolizer. Pins 2-3. We tried Pins 1-2 and the fuel pump would not prime at all.

I am completely at a loss. The next step will be picking up a new megasquirt but I really don't want to if something can be fixed.

As he says I tried to help Aaron get his car running today. Like everyone else I thought it was a fueling or after start enrichment settings. Once I started looking at it I noticed the ECU was commanding Spark Cut and Fuel Cut about 4 seconds after power up. I went through every menu and turned off all options that could be asking for spark or fuel cut, like Boost Cut, Launch Control, etc. Rev limiter is set correctly at 7200rpm. If you take a look at the log, you will see the point towards the end when the RPMs start going down and the car dies. If you scroll through all the variables you won't find any rhyme or reason to why the engine turns off. The fuel pump isn't stopping; the injectors are going to 0ms and the spark is turned off. Prior to that the car idles strong and sounds good.

If you turn the key straight from off to cranking and start it, it will idle for about 4-5 seconds and then cut spark and fuel and die. If you turn the key to On and wait for it to connect to Tunerstudio before cranking, then it will say Spark Cut and Fuel Cut during cranking and will never start. While cranking it reports RPM Fully Synced.

Aaron mentioned it is a Rev built MS2e which has a custom board and custom firmware. It also had an immobilizer jumper, when put in the other position the fuel pump wouldn't turn on at all.

Correction on one thing. I have one of the later built MS2E and it doesn't use custom firmware. I updated the firmware to version 3.4.2 and it is experiencing the exact same behavior.

Finally got it working!!! Thanks to Reverant for his help.

In can bus 1 io extended setup, there is an option for immobolizer settings. Mine was set to TRW 36AS. Once i turned this off, it fired up right away.

Two weird things I am getting now.

1) I am getting 100% knock on the knock input gauge. I've posted a picture of my knock sensor setting. Does the settings look correct?
2) Neither of my fans will kick on. I even tried turning on the AC to see if I could get the condenser fan to go. Nothing. I've posted a picture of my fan settings.

Any solutions would be appreciated. Thanks.
