Default bad tune? N/A miata MS-PNP

This one is the car of a friend of mine, has some work on it:

- 1.6 '90
- 11:1 pistons
- Pauter rods
- HKS 264║ exh. and int. cams
- MS PNP

The motor has dynoed 130 HP (9.000 rpm), and I think it's a little low for the installed mods. I attached the current msq file he's using an also a log, I don't have too much knowledge about MS so if you guys can take a look on it

Perhaps too much fuel? Needs more aggressive spark?

He's going to install a turbo... after talking to him, he realised that the cheap way to achieve high power is a turbo.

We were looking for his config and wondering why his car doesn┤t make more HP.

I think the map doesn┤t configured correctlly.

The fact is he paid a considerable amount of money to a local tuner for this file. The only thing he want to know is if these are the apropiate numbers for a N/A engine.

Personally I think he's running too rich.

those numbers are low. I dunno about those hks cams though. probably needs more itbs. that said, i'm too lazy to look at the log. I run like 12.7 AFR on WOT and thats probably kinda rich, so if its any lower than that, give that a shot.

I think 130hp is about right.

Only 15HP gain? I don't think it's fine.

The owner says that I feel the car powerless than before tuned up.

Fine has nothing to do with it - it is about right for those mods. To get higher he will need a head shave, ITB's, cam gears and mucho $$$ in dyno tuning.

It's not 15 HP gain.

Your comparing numbers that aren't the same. The 130 is RWHP and a stock 1990 wouldn't be making much more than about 95 RWHP at best, closer to 90 RWHP. So it's more like a 40 HP gain and there probably isn't much more to be had, at best another 3-5 RWHP would be my guess.

FWIW, spanish dynamometers measure the estimated power at the flywheel. The owner of the car don't have any dyno data, the 130 hp number was given by the tuner (the tuner says he dynoed the car before the tune, he does the tune on the street).

The owner says that the car feels slower than stock, so maybe the car it's not making not even 130 hp.

Where are the dyno charts for before and after the mods?

how do you blow-up an NA motor? Good thing you bought $1000 rods for all that torque you're making.

Would have to see the before and after sheets. Most power I saw out of a 1.6 was just over 119 WHP - stock motor, racing beat intake, obx header, obx exhaust, and an e-manage tune. Was sort of a freak. Those cams really won't give you much power at all on a NA motor, and have you done a compression test to see how much higher your compression has actually gone?

First of all it's not my car. It's a friend's car, mods were installed by recommendation of his tuner and the same tuner adjusted the MS on this car. About the rods, maybe the advantage is the less weight, I don't care because I'm running a turbo.

There are no sheets, forget about the 130hp (probably the tuner invented this number and the car was never been on a dyno), the problem with the car is that is performing worse than stock.

The owner of the car only wants to know if this is caused by the MS map or not. Don't turn this into a turbo vs. n/a thread (turbo FTW! )

Without before and after dyno runs or lap times there really isn't any way to judge this and that's why people are asking for the dyno plots.

If your "tuner" is recommending $1000 rods for 130-EspHP, then I'd throw just about anything he recommends in the garbage.
