seriously awful advice.

This friendly criticism does not come completely unexpected. Just for clarity: I do not advise running the car in open-loop; that'd be silly. But since the car isn't running yet, I just advised to temporarily switch to OL to exclude the potential of the PID causing the stalling.

And 0.8ms dead-time for NB1 stock injectors is wrong.

Carry on....

Braineack 04-12-2017 08:50 AM

his PID wasnt causing his stalling, the log clearly showed this.

The 240cc EV6 injectors have a deadtime closer to .8ms (something I measured back in like 2011). I would use [and measured] 1.3ms on old shitty EV1 rx7 460cc injectors.

while it would have richened up his idle (since you basically add .5ms to the PW), again, this was not really the contributing factor...

Did any of you happen to notice the MAP signal on his log?

It's nice you guys are trying to help, but did you even look at the log, analyze it, and provide thought-out advice? Does a MAP sensor that stays at 20kPa when the motor is off, not give you pause? Regardless, you told him to lock the idle duty at 45%, but did you look at his log an not see that it already was locked at 50%?

I will concede this: the .8ms value being used MAY have been measured at 14v :P

Lets play a game, shall we?

Under what circumstances will the following MAP readings make sense.

Line first connected = 100kpa.
Car started= 30ish kpa
Car off= 60kpa.
The MAP signal will not reset to atm when the car is off. When the vac hose is pulled off, one can hear air rush out.

There are no kinks in the line, the hose is not collapsing on itself, the MAP sensor works fine. Air passage through the hose has been confirmed by blowing and sucking the hose (giggity) to ensure accurate map readings.

What's your guess MT megasquirt and miata pros?
Stefanst isn't allowed to play.

Braineack 04-12-2017 04:56 PM

every log ive looked of yours, the map sensor reading is troubling. if it really isnt the vacuum line somehow collapsing and throwing off readings, i gotta think the map sensor was doa.

ridethecliche 04-12-2017 05:04 PM

Okay, that's a reasonable assumption.

Now throw a wrench at it.

How could a noob possibly mess up something so simple when everything is working as it should be but the numbers don't make any sense.

Braineack 04-12-2017 05:12 PM

did you drive the vacuum line into the MS with a hammer and chisel?

Good guess!

Spoiler

Are you sourcing your MAP from somewhere reasonable? How did you calibrate your sensor?

sonofthehill 04-12-2017 05:33 PM

Do you have a vacuum/boost gauge that doesn't jive with the MAP sensor? I admit that I have not looked at your logs and I am no expert. Should have excluded me as well.

sonofthehill 04-12-2017 05:46 PM

Last random answer from me today, you better not be a busm student. Can't stand the people running that place.

What are you using for vacuum line, real vacuum line or aquarium tubing that you got from school. Sounds a bit like your vacuum line is getting sucked closed. Only mention it because I have seen doctors do this kind of shit before.

And what was the problem with your 3 grand idle, a vacuum leak?

DIng ding ding.

Some idiot decided to tee into the VICS valve vac tubing.

I wonder who could have done such a thing. Probably some BUSM student that snuck into my garage when I was at the library and tried to sabotage me.
(I don't go to BU btw lol.)

I'm actually going to follow Brain's instructions correctly this time. It was dark and both that and the FPR are black. Soo.....

/facepalm

That actually sounds like a reasonable answer, seriously. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that is what actually happened.

I'm glad, good for you the place is completely run by lying, backstabbing cheats in my opinion.

I have friends there that like it. Tufts is crazy expensive though. One of the most expensive med schools in the country. I wanted to go to Jefferson back in philly since my family lives around there. I moved up to CT for college and have been in New England ever since. Jefferson was way too expensive though. S'all good. I probably wouldn't be tinkering around in a garage making bone headed mistakes if I was in philly!

Also, I guess my use of quotes for 'issues' was appropriate in this thread lol.

:bowrofl:
Yeah, I got issues with the deans, provosts, and associate directors of that sewer of a place. The students are innocent though, at least for the most part, in the beginning anyway. I still don't want to help any of them though.

Braineack 04-13-2017 06:50 AM

so the question now is: does it run well finally?!

ridethecliche 04-13-2017 05:37 PM

I just responded to your email...

I can't find it?

This is what I had it connected to at the front of the manifold:
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...1be3df7321.jpg

This is the FPR, right? But aren't 1 and 2 fuel lines?
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...9ff7ad59cd.jpg

I've heard this source is bad because of turbulent air flow at the front of the intake manifold.
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...1054116687.jpg

Behind the IM... I don't see anything that looks relevant.
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...8a1a29686b.jpg

Then there's this vacuum line that runs from around the center of the intake manifold back to a sensor in the next picture.

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...1a4fe1befa.jpg

Is that what I'm looking for?

I found the above image on this thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo...94-97-a-31595/
My intake manifold doesn't have any soft like like that. I have a hard line that runs parallel to the pink line shown there.

Are things different on the NB or am I just missing something basic here...

You have an NB. You have no FPR on the engine. What you are calling the FPR is the pulse damper. Your FPR is in the fuel tank.

I am connecting to the nipple on the back of the intake. Next to the brake booster.
