can Ms take care of:

boost timing retard
knock retard

what is the tuning/user interface like, and what do I have to buy to get this thing tuned (cables, adapters). I will use a unit prepped by "kingof1337."

Download MegaTune (there is a link from the msefi website) and have a look for yourself. It's a really good idea to have a play with MegaTune before you get the MS installed.

I agree Megatune has ALOT of options you should download it and take a look.

hustler 09-14-2006 12:50 AM

holy shit, megatune is huge. Its like, biger than any engine management I've ever seen.

Aussie Driver 09-14-2006 02:38 AM

I forgot to mention, once you have downloaded MegaTune, you should also download one of the current versions of MSnSE (either 029t or 08g (Hi-res)) and run the edit-settings dos application to change MegaTune from the standard version of the code to the MSnSE version of the code. That way you will be able to see exactly what you will be able to play with once you get the ECU installed.

I have found the hi-res code to be a lot more smoothererer (it's a hard thing to describe accurately, maybe I could also say it feels more 'factory'), and it's also great for fuel consumption.

The Hi-Res stuff is here

kingofl337 09-18-2006 07:15 PM

so, you can use the same maps as the normal extra stuff, it just doesn't work with PWM?

timk 09-18-2006 10:25 PM

Aussie, can you use the fancy idle code with the high res stuff?

Edit: I read through the thread, instead of just the first post!

Most features have been tested. Ones I am not sure of are: traction control, water injection and NOS. If they do not work, we need to fix them as they should work just fine. Staged injection works in hires now, but the transition code is not yet in the code (that softens the transition to the second injectors).

Looks like good stuff!

Cheers
