Car idles for about 5 seconds and leans out

Megasquirt 3X Basemap: 90-90 map from Trubokitty.com I finally fixed my wideband issue which was preventing me from knowing why the car would die after a few seconds at idle. The starts around 11 AFR and slowly creeps to 14ish and then it will shoot up to 17 and die. I figure this has to do with ASE but i don't know where to start. |
What injectors are you running and what is your req_fuel set to? Verifying that reqfuel is scaled correctly would be my first thing to check. Even if it is scaled "correctly" it varries by setup, you can increase the number to add fuel. I'd add 30% and start car again to see if it idles.

To build on what pdexta said, if you're using a 90-93 basemap, has the required fuel number been set/adjusted correctly for the 1.8 motor? Does the AFR creep from 11 to 14ish correlate with ASE or warmup enchichment? Sounds like the car just needs tuned.

Like others said, ensure you have the right data dialed in for your injectors(dead times also).
Increase the idle cells, some injectors need big numbers in VE to idle. If the logs are correct, why do you run 20+ degrees of timing advance idling? |
start by increasing your REQ_Fuel to 13.1 and see how it reacts. you have a much bigger motor with the same sized injectors -- needs more fuel.

And as for the required fuel, I had adjusted it using the tool in tunerstudio for stock 1.8 brown top injectors which i read are rated for 265cc. Would i still need to mess with the dead times for stock injectors? |

Not sure on the reason for that much advance on idle, I'm just using the basemap from trubokitty.com

Ideally you'd want to measure the dead times, there are write-ups about this if you search the forum, tho I believe trubokitty basemaps have injector dead time curves for your injectors already. Most likely you need more Req fuel tho, engine displacement is 1839cc and your injectors flow ~250cc |
Arbitraily bump your REQ_FUEL up to a point or two at a time, just to see how the car reacts. That will increase the fuel by a % and if it idles we know where to start. if the same thing happens, then we know to look elsewhere.
