CEL still flashing but not connected! Ghosts?

Hello everyone,
I'm just buttoning up the last little details on my track-build. Everything is running great, data logs show great AFRs, with zero lost syncs, etc. But my stock CEL in the dash continuously flashes "long - long - short - short - short - short", which I think is 004 (or 24?). The thing is, I don't even have the CEL output enabled in Tunerstudio!

Might anyone know why the light is flashing? Should I pull the pin 1E (CEL via Digital Freq. 1) out of the stock ECU plug and see if it is still flashing?

Set up is MS3 ProPnP; turbo 98 Aussie NB8A, 1.8, non-VICS.

Many thanks :)

You sure it’s not enabled in extra outputs? I’ll try to finally look through yor files asap

Hi-ho Vlad, thanks for the reply and great to hear from you :). Hope you had a restful holiday. It would be fantastic if you were in a position to work on the tune. I will email you the most recent files, we are running on the post-dyno files now, with WOT tuning done.

I've double-checked everywhere I can think of, the CEL doesn't seem to be turned on anywhere..

Cheers.

Disable flash codes, see if it goes away. Are you sure it's the CEL and not the immobilizer light?

ninerwfo 12-30-2018 04:27 AM

Oh. Wow. You were right Reverant, it is the Immobiliser that is flashing, not the CEL - pretty embarrassing, sorry about that. So, based on your reply on Mx5Miata.net:

The flashing is done by the module, not the MS3. Basically, its telling you that it can't communicate with the stock ECU (shock and awe; how could that even happen?). The immobiliser doesn't cut the fuel pump; it send a signal to the stock ECU not to fire the injectors and coils, and it cuts the starter motor itself (even in the absence of the stock ECU)."

- I guess I just disconnect the light at the back of the dash to solve the problem?
Thanks heaps :)

Correct.

isn't it easier to unplug the immo module? Is it still above the gas pedal area as in the NA?

On the European NB2, removing the immo module disables the starter. Also, on the NB1/NB2, removing the bulb is actually easier, at least for me.
