Default CLT compared to Dash Temp Gauge?

I have a 2002 with a MS3 Pro PNP, Tunerstudio shows my coolant temp ranges from 202 to 213 during normal operation, all good so far. I know the stock dash temp gauge is not accurate but it will swing from half way between cold and the center to all the way to the right. And it doesn't seem to track with the fans cycling on and off. Should I just ignore the dash gauge? Could I have the temp probe calibrated wrong?

Thanks

Ignore the dash gauge.

Burp the air out of the coolant. Do you have a reroute?

Yes I have a coolant reroute, a Moroso radiator, Flynmata dual fans and shroud, a TRD oil cooler, and because I'm in the process of adding the Rotrex SC kit from TDR I have their ducting kit and inter-cooler installed in front of the radiator.

Does your thermostat have the tickle valve on it and is it mounted with the tickle valve at the top?

Trapped air back there can be a problem sometimes.

It's possible someone modified the stock gauge to be more linear in response via soldering 2 resistors on the leads to the temp gauge on the cluster vs just sitting in the middle. Seems like a somewhat popular mod that some owners do to create more "resolution" on the gauge. That might explain why you're seeing larger swings on the gauge vs the stock gauge that just sits at half from anything to "cool but not cold" to "you're about to have a bad time".

Might be worth it to pop the cluster out and check.

Depends how much current your ignition coils are pulling

I just swapped to LS2 coils could that be part of the issue

also yes my re-route has a vent on it and I made sure it is vented

since megasquirt and the dash gauge use the same sensor my only real concern is if megasquirt is reading correctly can someone please check my tune and make sure my settings are correct.

Different sensors, in same housing. Dash sensor goes Power -> Gauge -> Sensor -> Ground. Reroute must provide current path to head. MS sensor has 2 wires, both of which terminate directly to MS.

I don”t think one can read the thermistor values programmed in. They must be correctly put in via Tools / Calibrate Thermistor Values with T/S connected to MS. For NB, use the preset Common Sensor Values from RX-7_CLT(S4&S5).
