Default COP...will these work?

I have 6 of these with the pigtails. I don't know what car they are from, I just aquired a box with 6 of them in it. Will these work with the MS?
If so are they worth messing with, and will my tach still work, only 2 wires most COPs i've seen are 4.
*edit*

after more google'n i think they are from a Pontiac.

You'll need external ignitors (BIP373)

As Pedojeff alluded, this indicates that these units do not have an internal igniter / tach driver- they just just coils with no onboard electronics. In their original application, they most likely used an external high-current driver, similar to the "igniter" in the '90-'93 Miatas.

You can still use them with a Megasquirt, however you will need to buy or construct a high-current driver to operate them. One option would be the 4-Channel Ignition/Injection Driver Board from JBPerf. Another option, if you want something pre-assembled, is the QuadSpark Four Channel Ignition Module from DIY.

And, of course, you'll still need to drive the tachometer, however this is fairly straightforward using the MS's Tacho Output option.

sounds like they are a lot of work to get them to work.

FS $1 + shipping.

Not really.

If you used the quadspark that The Magnanimous Mr Perez posted, wiring them would be super easy. You would just run 2 trigger wires (one per ignition bank) out of the MS to the corresponding wires on the quadspark, then provide the coils with switched 12v power on the + side, and wire the quadspark to the - side of the coil. Easy peasy.

I like to run the COP's with the external module anyways. I think there is just way too much heat around the COP's to have a poor igniter sit there. That is my 2cents! KEEP THEM!!
