Default Dead MS3 Mini - what can I try?

I’m suspicious that my MS3 Mini (from MSLabs) may have died :-(

It was working, albeit with some strange behaviour mostly between 1k and 2k revs, and then I changed the wiring for Audi COPs, discovered the MS3 Mini cannot run these coils, so changed back to Toyota COPs. I started it up and it ran for about ten seconds then died. I started it up again, and again it ran for about ten second and died.

Now it won’t run at all. I’ve still got a red LED lighting up on the board, but the fuel pump is no longer priming when I switch ignition on and my laptop won’t communicate with the ECU, even if I try to update the firmware on the ECU Tunerstudio can’t find it.

Weirdly, the tach needle moves a tiny bit when I turn the car on. It never used to do that. When I changed the wiring back from Audi COPs to Toyota COPs I kept the tach signal provided by the ECU rather than get the tach signal from the Toyota COPs as this was easier. Could this be a clue as to what happened?

Anyone got any ideas what I can try to figure out what went wrong? Or do I just need to buy a new ECU?

So Dimitris (Reverant) has been in touch with me via email and very helpfully guided me through some testing which identifies a blown 5v regulator, likely caused by a shorted wire at my TPS plug.

I’ve still got to figure out what’s causing the weird behaviour on light throttle from idle (loads of fuel goes in, comes out the exhaust, doesn’t seem to be triggered by AE) but that’s for another thread…
