EBC clicking
So, if/when my GM solenoid fails, I can just swap it for one of those badboys and redo the table and I'm set?

Yeah I had not heard of another option when I got the GM solenoid. But then again I did not research it much and just went with the normal solution in that case.
Interesting you do it the same way Paul. I just tried it out for the hell of it and it seems to work well. It is easy to do too; just select the whole row, type 0.8 into the formula box, and hit the multiply button. Repeat for the next row, incrementing the multiplier. Cake.
I think the solenoid is fixed. No more clickie.

The MAC valve is the same valve AEM(AEM buys their valves from MAC and just rebrand them) sells for $100+,except your just paying for the AEM sticker.
If you need the MAC valve part #,I got it.
I was referring to the one in the link Brainy posted, it was $25 IIRC.
Just to split some hairs, failing open would be failing to WG (low) boost, right? Plus, if it were to fail closed, my limiter would catch it.

If the valve failed closed, you will just be running wastegate pressure(whatever the wastegate is set to mechanically)......if your valve fails open while you have the pedal to the floor, well you know what will happen......KABOOM!
If/when your GM solenoid fails, there is a very high chance of motor damage due to the GM solenoid failing open and not shut.I did not want to take a chance,so I switched out a almost brand new GM solenoid and installed a MAC valve.

You made it very apparent? Can you explain further?
In MT I can only find one option: hard cut over boost protection
Is there a first tier soft cut which I'm not finding?
Nope, I just have it cutting fuel and spark which makes the car buck like a ****. You could do spark cut and like 5-10*, that would soften it. If you have a cat you can't do that though, it will ruin the cat with the fuel in the exhaust.
MAC valve 35A-AAA-DDBA-1BA
Since your in Cali, you will most likely be getting it from the same place AEM is getting their valves from.
Welcome to MAC Valves

I have the same ebc clicking issue with my car. Only seems to happen right at start up or when I turn the power on but don't start the car. Doesn't happen all the time, maybe one in ten. I'll be making the suggested changes to MS too.
Just wanted to let folks know this thread is worthwhile help.
